Obviously there was a lot of stuff there to look at in terms of reference material, so what those chairs look like, if you go back and play the original Fallout, that's exactly what they look like in the original vault. A lot of it was just our folks taking a look at what that game or those games had done and then did their best to bring that into a first or third-person 3D environment.

Translation : We bought the art direction of the previous two games so we'll not be doing our own.. also we hired oblivion modders and deviant artists* for the rest :)

*the bad emo i'm still thinking like a 14 yr old kind :P

TPGC: Did you consult any of the original Fallout developers?
PH: No...I mean, we've spoken with some of them, but at the end of the day the people making the game have to buy into it. CRRRRRAAAAAAAZY!!!!

Seriously. Chairs? And "did you talk to them?" "no... I mean, yes..."

At the end of the day... and the rest of the interview is barely any better

To say a super mutant cannot possibly wear a helmet is crazy, there is nothing anti-Fallout about it.

And to say that you couldn't equip nazis with water pistols in a WW II shooter would also be crazy. I mean, why not? You had water pistols in that time, there's nothing anti-WW II about it.

But the thing is...why would you? Helmets are stylistic shift, and it's pretty obvious from where and to where that stylistic shift is.

Holy Maccaroni...The same helmet and same head in his hands...Bethesda consider P.O.S as canon now or is it a very unfortunate coincidence ? Fuck...

it's not an AK47.

at best it's an AK mixed with a Galil and some generic firearms.

which is fine, because it shouldn't use real life weapons.

to name a few reasons why it's not an AK47: gasport moved far down the barrel, changed ergonomics & safety remains in place but looses the original functionality of physically locking the bolt forward.
i'll grant you that it looks similar though (magazines, general form, etc) though.

First question:
"It looks pretty."
"Thanks, we try"

 (Best Interview ever)

Also: Either those are really baggy pants, or the VD could lose a couple of pounds.. suprising given that he's barely got anything to eat outside of the Vault and undergoes strenous excersize such as fighting for his life..

The "Hot or Not" list makes me want to hurt someone. And the "lol pwnage" headshot screen makes me cringe everytime I see it.

But at least Bethesda got the two-headed Brahmin right. So they have that going for them.

Still haven't figured out why the BoS appear to be wearing armor cobbled together from garbage cans and spare auto parts, though.

to be honest, the screens iam seeing dont "hurt" me anymore.
i am already over it, blocked fallout3 out of my mind. i actually blocked bethesda out since oblivion. feels refreshing i can tell you (lower blood pressure and all)

fallout 2 is in my memory as the last one of the line and iam intending to keep it that way.

that said, damn now i remember why i was so pissed off about the mutant looks ...

i love the chairs though  the must be 12000 pixel width at least

aww what the heck. i was planning to contribute something reasonable to the discussions in this forum but bethesta's last releases of material doesnt make that easy.

yes the last screenies looked like trash. i don't care if the characters have many polygons, they look unrealistic, boring, dead and colorless. the same with the landscape. that monochromatic, uninspiring building filled with debris is so very generic, it could be from any fantasy-orientated fps. same with the mutant / orc.

i even more have the feeling now that bethesta is just happy playing with their new toy. some parts turn out quite well, even more parts turn out catastrophical, but most importantly, nothing fits together.

i highly doubt that anyone in their developer team has a vision about the deeper sense of the project. they just seem to happily slap material together, hoping it will impress people.

damn i really tried to always name something positive along with the negative. sorry, i failed.

Well, I dunno, Bethesda has never been very good at character art. World art? Sure. But character art? Hell no.

That is the Emperor from Oblivion?
He looks like an old lady, I could swear having run into her once.

fuck you bethesda for creating this idiotic supermutant-knight-spare-parts-shit-thing. Fuck you!

You really want to make this the worst fallout game ever or what?

Looks like an AK-74 to me.

I miss the hunting rifle already.
