Falche 2: Character data (main1) not found

Hello, I've been trying to get the Falche 2 character editor to work because i'm kinda stuck in a quest i which i need a high lockpick skill and i wanna get it done.I installed in in the fallout 2 main directory, where the FALLOUT2.EXE is but when i select a save(save1 in this case), i get this error.

Character data (main1) not found

I'm not sure what i am doing wrong because for everyone else it works.Help?

Large mods such as the RP or Megamod alter the savegame structure, which can break some editors. Try the Fallout II Savegame Cracker or vad's Savegame Editor.
