Fallout 1 Text font error. HELP!

Dr Strangelove

First time out of the vault
I have just installed Fallout to reminisce about the times when games actually had quality, and I get the following Error:

EDIT: For clarification, I get this when I start up the game, not when installing. It installed fine.

Couldn't find/load text fonts.

I tried adapting the solution posted in the stickied thread for Fallout 2 to Fallout 1 but to no avail. I can't run the game and this is extremely frustrating.

EDIT2:MORE INFO: I'm trying to run it on a 2004 laptop with Windows XP SP2 and a hard drive with an NTFS file system.

BTW: Why are all the major emailing sites banned?

59 views and nobody has an answer?

Because people using them would never tell us what system they were trying to run the game on.

Apparently not, huh? Strike 1 for double posting. Have just a weeeee bit of patience.

Or maybe, it's just because you're not posting any information. Like, you know, what you *exactly* tried already. Or how you installed the game. Or what the contents of your cfg file are. Or any of the other dozens of things noted in the stickies.

Cfg file:

Code:
[system]
MASTER_dat=C:\Program Files\Interplay\Fallout\MASTER.dat
CRITTER_dat=C:\Program Files\Interplay\Fallout\CRITTER.dat
[sound]
MUSIC_path2=C:\Program Files\Interplay\Fallout\DATA\SOUND\MUSIC
free_space=0

Its currently installed manually following the instructions linked to in the stickied thread exactly.

To fix the problem I have tried:

Note:While I tried this all of the executables and installers were in Win95 compatibility mode.

1: Reinstalling with the installer.
2: Reinstalling manually.
4: Launching it in DxWnd.
5: Editing the cfg file numerous times.
6: Making all files in the Fallout folder not read-only.
7: Trying all of this unpatched and patched.
