Fallout 1 Unavoidable CTD when Leaving Gun-Runners

TransgenderViking

First time out of the vault
Having a recurring problem which is preventing me from being able to continue my Fallout 1 save game. Currently at the gun-runners fortress in the Boneyard, and just agreed to kill all the deathclaws for them, but now the game crashes to desktop every time I leave the area. Can't wait, and can't fast travel, and there is only the one exit grid.

Here is the error message text;

"The instruction at 004b3b48 referenced memory at 0000003a
The memory could not be read from
"

And here are my computer specs;
win7 64bit, Core i5 760, 8GB DDR3 Ram, 200GB C drive, 2TB data drive, Nvidia GeForce GTX650TI graphics, Corsair 600M PSU

I doubt this is a problem with my computer as I have tried using this save file on 3 different computers now, and have tried running in classic mode, with the same result each time. I'm pretty sure I am fully updated with the official patches, I am running the steam version, and I have already tried running the game with the "Fallout FIXT" patch with no fix to the error.

Would really like to avoid having to restart the game, especially since this is my first time playing the game, so if anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately, people have encountered a lot of problems like this that simply can't be fixed without modding the game files. Both Fallout 1 and 2 were pretty buggy upon release.

I'd recommend downloading Sduibek's Fix'T fixes only; but there's a pretty good chance you're going to have to start over.

Just start over. Reinstall the game, install Fix't into it, and begin again. That's really all you can do at this point.
