Fallout 1 with unofficial patches: sfall not functioning

First time out of the vault
Running Fallout 1 with semi-unofficial patch 1.2 and unofficial patch 1.3.5. I notice there are sfall's ddraw files in the root, and some of sfall's options have been incorporated into the UI, such as object highlighting. None of it works, however. I tried editing the ddraw.ini to skip intro movies, use the shift key to highlight objects, map shift key to middle mouse etc. None of them took effect. Tried overwriting with Crafty's unofficlal Sfall for Fallout 1 (ddraw.dll and ddraw.ini) but this just causes the game to crash on startup.

The weird part is I can't find ddraw files in either of the two extracted patch's contents. Are they part of the GoG version's install? Any feedback on sfall integration in GoG/1.2/1.3.5? Any idea how I can apply these features?

the TeamX fallout 1.2 and TeamX patch 1.3.5 are a bit outdated now.
Current best option is to run Fallout with FIXT mod by Sduibek. Download is somwhere in the thread stickies in this part of the forum. FIXT has a separate .exe that modifies Fallout executable to work with sfall and hi res patch. if it will still not work for you than you porbably use windows 8 or above. If so then it might be nessecary to run Fallout in dx9 32bit texture mode (config .exe settings) and also set it to fullscreen-windowed.. I don't know why but only this setting worked in my x86 tablet with win8.1 (win 10 might be the case too).

I'm on Windows 7. Last time I tried FIXT it was not especially stable. A little hesitant to use it. The weird part is, I never installed Sfall but the ddraw files are in my install root (current GOG version). There is a lot of conflicting info about Sfall for Fallout 1, whether it even really exists, what features it actually includes for Fallout 1, etc. My current understanding is that the original author dropped it, and others continued the work. Original author basically disavows it's existence for Fallout 1. I tried overwriting with Crafty's modded version of Sfall but that caused a crash on start.

The ddraw.dll included in GOG/Steam version of FO1 is not sfall (there's no ddraw.ini with it). It's only a simple wrapper to prevent color issues.

Well, I do have a ddraw.ini in my folder. And I didn't put it there.
Didn't you say earlier that you copied Crafty's stuff in there?
I just tried installing my GoG version and there's only a .dll, no .ini. Even tried both an old version and the newest version.
