Fallout 2 Installation Problems

When I try to install my Fallout 2 game on the option Humongous, It always cuts out on the installation at the end. Right when the red bar is almost to a complete, it just flat out stops. I tries setting "My Computer" settings to no-read ahead on everything and a 64 cache'. Still no go. I have enough space for the game a whole lotta space. My CD is in good condition, because I brought it over to a friends house and he installed it on HUMONGOUS. It worked fine. If you could help me with this I would eb grateful.
 
Hi there, at least you hit the choosing part. For myself, I got a DLL problem whenever I tried to install it! I tried to install the directx, but in a flash, it reports installation complete, but Fallout2 still encounter the same problem.

If it is not a missing DLL, it's then a invalid page whatever...

I just am helpless.
 
Sounds like your sistem hangs during the installation because it cannot read from the disk. This (hanging) only happens with older cd roms that don't have much cash. Check what your cd rom is doing when it hangs. If there are strange sounds coming from it, that's what happens. Clean your cd rom.
