Fallout 2: Music Doesn't work

MelonHead

First time out of the vault
I bought Fallout Classic pack in March and its pretty fun
But there is something I noticed a while after playing Fallout 2
The music doesn't work

I tried changing the cfg. files, tried copying and pasting the amc. files to the right folder, and installed the restoration project But nothing worked
Fallout 1 works just fine though

If anyone finds the solution to this problem for me I would be really grateful

Check the configuration file and direct the music to -

music_path1=data\sound\music\
music_path2=data\sound\music\

Are there any music files in the actual folder - Fallout2\data\sound\music. (01hub.acm).

What does that mean? Operating System? Did you choose the largest install option? Where is your game folder located?

1. I mean The amc files
2. I'm using Windows 7
3. I think so
4.C:\Program Files (x86)\Interplay\Fallout 2\DATA\SOUND\MUSIC

When you first install the option is available. How big is the Fallout 2 folder, size wise?

These numbers don't make any sense. 583,783,533 bytes are not even close to 2.7GB, that'd be about 556 MB.
Maybe try installing it to a different folder (anywhere but Program Files). Sometimes there are issues with old games located in Program Files because modern Windows versions use some kind of file protection in this folder.

How is this relevant for anything? To get the size of a folder you just right-click it, select properties and check what it says after "Size:".

What exactly did you do/install/patch after you installed the game?
And, just for the record, where did these other numbers come from?

Well I did the sfall install, Restoration Project, and Resolution Patch
And all those number came from the URL in the Fallout 2 Folder

I wonder how you got such vastly different numbers from the same folder.

Seperately? I don't think you are supposed to do that, the RP includes both the High-Res patch and sfall, I think killap explicitely states that you shouldn't install them manually if you use the RP.
I suggest you reinstall Fallout 2 somewhere that is not the Program Files folder and then install the RP and only the RP. This is crucial, really. I'm quite sure that this will solve your problems, killap clearly says you shouldn't install to program files and not install anything else unless you know what you're doing.

Next time: RTFM! :twisted:

Doesn't matter, anywhere else will do. C:\Fallout, C:\Games\Fallout or even a different hard drive if you have one. Just don't install it to Program Files or other "special" Windows folders.
