Fallout 2 NCR Caravan Bug

FakeKisser

First time out of the vault
I'm sure at least one person has already asked this, but I am with a caravan from NCR to Redding. We ran into some Deathclaws fighting another Caravan. When the Deathclaws were dead, the other caravan turned on my caravan. We suffered many casualties, but we were victorious. I believe my caravan lost three people, leaving 6 or 7 including me. After the fight, I tried to get the caravan going again by going into the brown-transition exit thing (you know what I mean). To my horror, though, it just took me to the map. When I went to Redding, I realised my caravan wasn't with me. I have tried exiting the place where my caravan is from every direction, but I don't know how to get them to go with me. Is this because the caravan leader died? Can I fix it, or do I just have to realise that I'm not going to get to finish the drive and get my money? Thanks.

You should have easily made up the money with the spoils from all the casualties. Just cut your losses and move on.

Big_T_UK: I did try to talk to all the remaining soldiers in my caravan, but I only got "floating words," no real dialogue windows.

Like pennyliu123 said, I figured that I would have to just lose the party. I did make enough XP and money to not make me too angry. I just thought I might check here just in case of the unlikely event that someone knew how to correct the problem.

It's no big deal, though. Thanks for your input. I appreciate the help.

There are lots of redding caravan bugs. The one that most often happens to me is that I go to the exit grid, but don't exit, I am placed back on the map where I was again, then the second try at going to the exit grid works (usually).

One time I went to the exit grid, and was placed back on the same map (as above), but my character was IN a caravan cart and could not move or do anything!

The "losing your caravan" thing happened more than once for me. I don't think there is anything you can do about it. Just head back to NCR and enjoy the random encounters along the way.

I think that loosing the caravan thing happens when the caravan driver gets killed...I'm not sure if it's like that in fallout2, but I remembered that happened to me one time in fallout1

That happens to me pretty often, I think its a bug or something, cause the party leader refuse to say "coast is clear" when there has been a fight close to another caravan, He just stands there with his finger up his ass and talks about "how good it was for you join as a guard". Wich leaves you with the choises to either abandon the caravan or reload......

starts to get pretty annoying.......
