[Fallout 2] Thief/Assassin builds?

What is a good build and/or weapons for those?

I currently use skilled & finesse as traits, silent running, thief & harmless (at lvl 12) as perks. I try to avoid fighting as much as possible, planting dynamite on people instead or backstab them with wakizashi-sword. As a thief, I don't need much endurance as I sneak past or blow enemies up with explosives if I must. I *try* to keep my karma low but not going under 0.

Any suggestions for this 'weakling'-build? Next perks? Something else instead of skilled (not gifted! :roll: ), or pack rat so I can carry more stolen stuff & explosives? Sniping or melee backstabbing?

My char ATM.



PS. As a sidenote, is it REALLY recommended to patch the game from the official 1.02 to unofficial ones & if so, to which one? :shock:

PSS. Those who say that dynamites are scarce & not easily found, try stealing Jo's shop shells every few days or so (in Modoc) :twisted:

The 1.02 is definitely playable if you know what bugs there are and how to avoid them (and use more than one save perhaps). If you already played the game a couple of times, the "bear dude patch" is recommended. Check the sticky in the mod forum.

So far I've only found the following build for a thief:
Thief

Traits: Skilled, One Hander
Tag Skills: Sneak, Unarmed, Steal
Stats:

Strength:4
Perception:7
Endurance:4
Charisma:2
Intelligence:8
Agility:10
Luck:4

Perks:Thief, Silent Running, Ghost/Harmless, Pack Rat, Pickpocket, Lifegiver,
Lifegiver

Playing Style:Avoid fighting whenever possible. If you have to assassinate someone, sneak
up to them and plant some ticking dynamite on them. . .then run. Steal anything
you can! Get as much stuff as you can. Trade it for armor, healing chems, or
better weapons (if you can use them).
Is this a recommended build?
 
Depends on what you mean by "recommended". I'd never take feats like Ghost, Silent Runner or Pack Rat in a normal game myself, so in that respect I wouldn't recommend them. But if this is primarily about sticking to a theme and playing in character, anything you think fits is fine, and any changes I could suggest would mostly serve to move your build away from that purpose.
