Fallout 3 at PAX: Rock, Paper, Shotgun

Rock, Paper, Shotgun has had one of it's PAX attendees post the notes he took while watching the newly released gameplay footage.<blockquote>Escape:
Very brown and grey
The faces are so much better than Oblivion’s glowing pie-men
draw distance is great
Does look a lot like post-apoc Oblivion, perhaps inevitably
Level up HUD doesn’t feature stupidly giant text. Thank Christ - Oblivion’s interface outright sucked at times
Much more emphasis on perks? Or am I not remembering the first two Fallouts correctly?

Oh god, please have some colour. It’s a supermarket, there should be brightly-hued packing all over the place, not just brown and grey and grey and brown. Bethesda’s poor, hamstrung artists must cry themselves to sleep.

I stopped reading right about there. If the journalist doesn't have a clue about what the general atmosphere should be like, I can't really trust anything else he is saying concerning this game.

I actually think the interior of the Super-Duper Mart looks mighty fine.

Stuff I have already heard.

Maybe it is just me and my brief fascination with Anime and my love of old movies that lets let me look past crappy acting.

I still reload my old save just to have that discussion with the Master.

Favorite game discussion ever.

Maybe because I've been playing nothing but the old fallouts and SNES games for a bit, but this games seems to look nice.

Maybe it's my 10-year experience digging shit and sorting garbage, but this maggot-infested pile of dog feces looks pretty edible to me...

Agreed, one of the only things i liked about fallout 3 design were some locations like the super duper, and lets not forget the music inside, loved that too.

without Turn-based (mainly) and a bunch of other stuff, fallout 3 will never be a true fallout game, but... It's not as bad you would expect. Bethesda is still a little hooked up on oblivion so fallout is gonna end up looking a bit like oblivion on some aspects ( well they are actually built using the same engine). But in the end its gonna turn out to be one of those games that most people like but won't have near their top best. Unless... Bethesda releases some modding tools and some modders add and change some stuff in the game.

Can't say i'll buy the game on the day it reaches the shelfs but there is still 2 months before the release and some new and unknown stuff of the game might still come out.

BTW, i loved the super duper market, i think it was well built.

Yes, anyone else liked this song from the 3rd video?

Liking is an understatement, I really love this song.

I actually hate that butcher pete song and its way too upbeat for fallout anyway. Fallout should have songs about lost hope and dreariness or even a song about hope would work. It is just an upbeat swing song about killing.

I actually it goes quite well with the immaturity of bethesda though when you think about it.

I think Butcher Pete is about sex, and it is a great song that is one of the first rock and roll songs by one of the first rock and rollers Roy Brown. show some love.

Yes I too think it's about sex.

"choppin' up all the women's meat"

"all you guys better watch yo wives"

Hehe.

That makes for some interesting meanings later in the song:
Lyrics said:
The police put Pete in jail
Yes, he finally met his faith
But when they came to pay his bail
They found him choppin' up his cell mate

The song is also annoying as fuck.

He's hackin and wackin and smackin.

CHA-CHING CHA CHING!!!

CHOO CHOO!!!

But I guess you like those sort of things.

Yes, I like that song, it goes well with the setting. And AFAIK, it's all about sex, not violence like you're implying. I hope they've got a bunch of other similar songs.
