Fallout 3 music (tribal ambient)

Public

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
I see the future, and I see the problem with music that is gonna be in FO 3.

And I will be honored to be one of those who will compose music for Fallout 3.

Anyone else?

Thanks :)

I still have to finish that f*cking music for Mutants Rising, so people can hear what my skills are.

I'm sure in a fix the old Fallout music could be used. I would not be bothered by the ambient music in the past Fallouts. It would certainly be better than epic music used (although I must admit, I like the megaton music). New music would be great, but it would be a lot easier to import old music that a lot of fans still enjoy.

Sure it would be uncreative, but it could still be better than nothing for some gamers. Personally, if no original falloutish music was made by some mod, I would try and find a way to add the original music.

Sure, but you have a lot of ambitious musicians around the globe, who would like to make some music for any game. So why not to give them a chance?

I'm on it already :

Don't give too much attention to the second excerpt though because it has changed a lot since I've posted this video...

Roughly ten tracks are being made/are already made at the moment. I'm waiting for the game to be released though because I want to see how much of the music is context sensitive.

I was going to say, I would definitely like to hear what you can compose. What do you use?

Good to see a fellow musician here :drunk:

Here is the link to some of my music (actually most of it)

I'm working with Logic Pro. And here are some fresh photos of my fresh studio.

I've been listening to all tracks made for FO3, trying to get what the composer missed and did wrong.

Well, most of the sound like TES for sure. Some of the remind me of fairy tales stories and Disney movies (I love Disney, but Fallout is not Disney).

So, there is only one track which sounds very Falloutish.

It sounds a bit like the original soundtrack for San Francisco with those syth strings. But with the electro-percussion it gives a thought about the song for Vault 13, from the first Fallout. Probably, he took some ideas from Morgan's tracks.

Although, the bass line is playing too often IMO.

And there is another track which would also work for Fallout.

And I decided to extend it.

It's just a first, short scetch.
This is the only track I would be able to extend. I don't like doing that.

So, Inon Zur can make Fallout tracks close to Mark's level, but it looks like he just prefers to stay with the orchestral-epic setting.

He shouldn't be doing music for FO3.

Funny, I actually prefer the orchestral setting over the original works. Having the choice to hear the old style is priceless though! Thank you so much public :D

That's cool man :)

Thanks.

Another thing about the music:

Thanks to not having battle music in previous Fallouts, it delivered a feeling that there is no difference between being in combat and not in combat. Which made a feeling, that a combat (violence and cruelty) is a normal thing to happen in the Fallout world.
Also because Mark's music was very dinamic in its design, that works for both combat and non-combat gameplay.

The music from previous Fallouts would work for FO3, but the combat is too loud like a shooter (even with VATS you need to go back to the RT combat, so AP will re-charge). Although, the original music might give FO3's combat that "turn-based-like" feeling, but still we have a shooter in there though.

If the modders are going to get ISO and turn-based combat from FO3, it will be awesome to make music for it!
We could even ask Mark Morgan to send us all his music from Fallout, which he re-mastered months ago (made them sound better), and use some of his tracks in FO3.

Ahh

Nice! I like your extended version. It's a little more PST-ish than Fallout-ish to my ears, though.

About Inon Zur music, I believe that there are a quite a few that are Fallout. The dungeon tracks are all good, for me, although some I have to agree that some of them sound a little generic.

The Explore tracks... Explore 1 has a nice Fallout feeling, despite the chords towards the middle. The rest seem to be a hit and miss, with some very Fallout moments and then he loses them.

The combat music seems for Baldur's Gate 3 instead of F3. Just hear the final of Battle 01.

You know what I'd really like? Location-specific music, instead of just random shuffling. This could perhaps be done by scripting? And I seriously won't turn on the radio after I download Incognito's mod!

Megaton/Canterbury Commons - Redding

Bigtown/Arefu - Modoc

Tenpenny Tower/Brotherhood citadel/Enclave base - Vault City

Slaver Camp/Raider base(if there is one) - New Reno/The Den

Metros/Vaults(not 101) - Eerie FO2/FO1 dungeon music

Underworld/I don't remember if Necropolis had its own music back in FO1...

The Mall area - FO2 Worldmap

Stupid FO3 title screen pompous fanfare - FO2 title screen ambience

I really hope this can be done someday...

1. You made those synths on 1:00 sound like from the Oil Rig (Enclave) in FO2.

2. I like the guitar part in Megaton, did you record it by yourself?

BTW Public, I just love the extended version. Sounds perfect for the game.

Thanks. I'm trying to make of this track (the part I made) something for Megaton, with guitars, like for Redding.
