~Tricks where used.., but no "official" cheating tho'! I honestly didn't know it was possible to just.. run by most foes and stay unharmed, but then again - never tried it. -Oh man! He's gone before they even finish the "greeting taunt"!

Fallout 2 speedrun's not too difficult. It takes a little under half an hour. Check that site for it.

No way I can check out that website while I'm at work... how long does the fallout 3 one take? I would think that some of the traveling might slow you down although I think you can make a straight line for Rivet City and bypass a big chunk of the game. I wonder if it is possible to just go fish out your dad as your first action...

Thirty minutes, made possible by the fact that the main quest has few areas where you actually need to kill your adversaries (perhaps nothing beyond clearing Project Purity of enemies for your father) and you could just run past them.
That and several segments of the main quest can be skipped.

EDIT: Not sure if my memory is %100, but I believe you can go after your father in the simulation even if you didn't look for him at Rivet City.
