Fallout, a PA movie short

Here's something we missed; in 2003, William Joines did a short entitled "Fallout" for his junior thesis project. After watching it, I can only conclude that the 15-minute $650 dollar short is an excellent piece of work, with some really impressive acting and set-building.

The basic premise is that of a little girl waking up in an empty and damaged fallout shelter with her memory gone and we watch her as she tries to survive and regain her memories, locked in the shelter. The short was shown on the Riverrun Film Festival and was a Student Academy Award Nominee.

Be sure to check it out as you can see the whole thing on Will Joines' website

After checking with the director, we can verify that there's no relation the the Fallout game. Spotted on Fallout.ru

Hold on - before I view this flick, I would like to know if I can expect sex and/or nudity? Because watching a film without a nude scene would be a true waste of time.

No nudity

Nice European sense of movies there though

Wow, that was pretty cool. I wish there was more stuff like that around. The little girl could actually act better than most pro actors today, and the set was really well done.

Agreed, The girl could act.

The set was what got me though, Beautifuly done.

seems to me though it was intended to be a survival shelter, for limited use.. still, i so no sleeping provisions other than the one blanket.

would have expected at least a few cots.

no matter, the movie was great.

Downloading it now.

On a related note, I watched Prey Alone today. It is a short film as well, and it's excellent! There's an interview here, and you can download the movie here (the file seems to be down, you can find the original news post here).

I'm a little surprised at the lack of interest in this movie/thread. I figured there would be more seeing as how there aren't a lot of good PA movies/games floating around.

Meh, it's not all that good.

I'd give him an A for effort, though. He's got a bright set-building career ahead of him.

Bwah, I didn't think it was all that good. The acting was kinda poor, IMO.

I can't recommend Tripping the Rift strongly enough.

Yep, that is indeed a very nice thing. Shame you can only view one episode.
Yeah, I heard it was a series. Didn't know that when I saw it. Any good? (if you've seen it that is)

Well, the short there exists independently of the series. The series is based on the short, though it was created several years later and on a higher budget (I believe they are currently creating the second season).

The series does have an official website, which will give you an idea of the series. I do recommend the series, but it isn't readably available.

Hmm... still 25 MB to go. I hope I can expect a good piece of work because otherwise I'd stayed up too long this night for nothing.
*looking forward*

EDIT: :ok:
