Fallout: Berlin?

:::SILUS:::

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
How would you feel about some future Fallout game being placed in let's say Berlin/Tokio/Johannesburg/Sidney/Bombay? The Fallout world as we know it is definitely getting smaller with every sequel and there are always less and less misteries lying on the bottom of the irradiated mining shafts of US.

So, where would you place Fallout 54?

Me, I'd personally place Fallout 4 in Boston, and the next game in New York. Other choices might be Calgary (I live there, lawl) or Toronto.

Europe, yep i would love to see it unless it was fan made I doubt it would happen.

Wrong forum.
Also, over 9000 threads have been made about this. Check the "Future Fallout games" subforum.
And talk to The Dutch Ghost about a Fallout set in Berlin, he's the man to go to for that :D
He posted quite a lot of his work concerning 'Fallout Yurop: Berlin', design documents for what hopefully one day will turn into a full game or at least a rulebook for P&P games.

EDIT: Sorry for posting on the wrong forum and big thanks to Hassknecht.

If i could pick, my choice would be Moscow. The term "nuclear winter" would sure have some serious weight there.

I'm just very curious about the Russia's lore in the Fallout universe. Contrary to the wild west of US, i would focus "Fallout: Moscow" around heavy communist industrialization, surviving during the neverending nuclear winter and the whole "fallen red machine" shtick.

Yeah, that's what i would pick, Moscow.

That just has a few problems:
1. There's no nuclear winter in Fallout (although patrolling the Mojave might almost make you wish for one).
2. Moscow isn't actually cold all the time. Their summer is actually as hot as their winter is cold.

Fallout never works outside of the US.
How do you know?
Nobody actually tried it.

Fallout roots so deep in the american retro-futuristic culture, a game set on a different continent would need an entirely new setting, build up etc. Why even call it Fallout then? You might aswell just create a new IP. The same goes for all the established factions, the prewar background of the US tied to old military experiments etc. It simply doesn't work outside of the US.

All of that could be created on other continents just as it was created for the original game set in US.

Truth be told, it would be much easier to start with all the freedom and creativity of a blank slate then to continue branching and connecting the existing dots.

Just my two cents.

My point stands, why not create an entire new IP if you do all the hard work and come up with new culture, background etc. for different continents? What would be "Fallout" then if you create everything new anyway?

This has been discussed many, many times in the future games forum. The only foreign countries that could work would be annexed Canada or maybe China. But not likely. Pretty much every place in the world was devolved into total war shit hole other than the US and China (and consequently, annexed Canada), because they were saving themselves up for the big fight.

You could use Fallout for a basis for some other foreign place to have a war, but it wouldn't be a Fallout game, not really.

I think a new IP would be the best for anywhere outside the US. I would like to see the game made by russian devs, much more bleak and realistic as opposed to the american take, which is kind of a joke ever since fallout 2.

Also 200 years post-war is stupid. Make a post nuclear apo game in the 10-25 post bomb year range.

Yes, the re-re-recolonised world is not funny anymore. I'm voting for a Fallout: RetRo - Return to the roots. :)

Rather than Fallout, I do believe one of the Devs' dream game would have been set in the Resource Wars, which was set in Europe prior to the Great War.

I would love to see that.
