I just wanted to express how much i like the Fallout series. The games are totally immersive, and show a level of maturity and at ther same time a clever humor that I think are pretty unique among all game genres and titles. I mean, if Fallout was a book series, I would read it. It's the story that keeps me coming back, it's just too damn cool. Anyway, I think it's a pity that it takes years to develop these games, as BIS will probably stop making sequels long before they fully expand the fallout universe. Not many games that I can say that for. Maybe after Fallout 3 is released they can whip out another sequel before they overhaul the engine again, like they did with Fallout 2. You won't hear me complaining. By the way, did anyone ever figure out how to save the Deathclaw village in 2? No matter what I did, I always got the bad ending for that part. If someone knows, I'll play through there again to check it out

Damn, I'm away for another three days, and we get a new poster. I seem to be missing out on all the good stuff around here lately.

Well, to answer your question, Fallout 2 was a buggy game, to say the least. While it was fun, it was a far cry from it's predecessor, and an even farther cry from being complete. Interplay/BiS was eager to give the public what it wanted (namely, more Fallout), and they hammered out FO2 with several loose ends. Among these are the abbey, the deathclaw ending, and the secret stash in golgotha.

And, for the love of all that is holy, don't give the tanker fuel to the Hubologists! Take it from someone who knows :-(...

By the way, if you really are interested in FO literature, head on over to the fanfic boards. There's plenty of proffessional quality work there by Fang, Slinky Avenger, 8-Ball, Will, and many others. Plus, there's even some crap of mine that you can ridicule at will.

First of all good to see a new poster!

Now if you want a Fallout Book series the BEST place to look would be the FanFic board. It's about as professional as we can get (until I con a publisher into making my story a book...). There are unbelieveable stories there by some true Fallout Fans who happen to be gifted writers. Post some of your own if you want. You won't get flamed (usually), everyone will give you helpfull suguestions (should you need them), and you'll get a warm tingly feeling when you realize that you are helping keep Fallout alive with every new post.

I've read a little fallout fan fiction, it's really good for the most part. As far as the bugs go, I hadn't heard of the abbey and golgotha ones. I think even though I played alot of Fallout I still missed a few things. By the way, I haven't been able to get my hands on Fallout 1 for quite awhile, and I want to play it again. Anyone have a copy I can buy from them? All the stores and websites that sell games don't have it in stock anymore. I played it so long ago, I bet it would be a whole new game to me now. Plua, I bet i missed some references in 2 because I waited so long in between games.

If you love or hate (or anything inbetween) someone's FanFic please respond to it. There's nothing we FanFicer's love more than to boost our ego a little by someone showing us that they actually read what we write. As for a copy of Fallout hmmmmmm. Give me a sec to search the web.... there are a couple over at eBay I see.... amazon.com has a few too. Also remember that Fallout comes bundled in the Fallout 2 package now at no extra charge so if you want Fallout badly enough and have a friend who hasn't played Fallout or its sequel yet...

The abbey was supposed to exist, but wasn't included in the final version of the game. The younger version of Tandi makes mention of it in the "Cafe of Broken Dreams" random encounter.

*Spoiler (kind of)*

When you find pretty boy Lloyd for Mr. Salvatore, he takes you out to Golgotha, a large, macabre graveyard outside of New Reno. From there, if you play your cards right, you can access a room beneath a secret grave, with a chest full of caps. However, in the unpatched (and in many cases patched. Grrrrr...) version of the game, your computer freezes up upon entrance into this room.

hmm, about golgatha. myron promised me he would tell me where the secret stash was when i got to it.(you tell him to stay there 'til you come back, he complains and says he'll do you a favor if you keep him around). i went to golgoatha, but he never told me which grave it was... so i just dug up some graves until i found one with a bunch of jet, antidote, and chips. but there is a ROOM below the grave?! damn myron. never tells me this stuff...
