Fallout Lego!

Vault14

First time out of the vault
I hope this is the right place to post this, but here is My Lego custom.
It is of Pip boy, Vault boy, Fallout boy. Whichever name you call him, personally I call him Pip boy. Anyway...

And heres a picture of the back of him, I am sorry the lighting is bad.

Sometime in the future I plan to make some Lego movies based on Fallout, but I am still undecided.

Way legout, dude!

Poor qyality photos of the LEGO Vault Boy though...

But you have already left us a LEGACY ! ;)

I prefer PiPboy :P !

Nice Idea, could be done better, but for the first try it looks good.
How did you make that hair? Looks great.

Rating
Hair 10/10
Face (-p the smile)8/10
Body (needs precise lines) 7/10

Final 8.7/10

Uhm... how about modelling putty ?

---

Use an extremly thin permanent marker for the face lines. Same with a yellow marker for the 13 and then fill it out with yellow paint.
If you can't find an EXTREMLY fine marker, modify one by gently cutting away parts of the writing-tip (don't know the proper word for that) with a modelling knife/scalpel.

The yellow lines on the jumpsuit look a little crooked. Here's a good tip:

Take aluminium foil and apply it on the figure, so only the parts that have to be yellow stay uncovered.
Paint it gently. Instead of one thick layer, try drybrushing* it with several layers of think paint.

Remove the foil and see the straight line (at least if you've cut the aluminium foil properly).

Use the technique also for the yellow parts on the sleves, the collar, the middle line and maybe even for other parts (mouth?)... just look how you can handle that technique.

*Usually drybrushing is used for blending colours into each other or for making highlights on 3 dimensional objects but in some cases it can be used for painting small areas in one colour.
Here's some info .

Uhm, but what about the Holy 13? Would need some kind of stencil for that...

Maybe transfers from a 1:35 or 1:72 model tank kit?

Or as I said, a very very VERY fine permanent marker for the outlines and filling it out shouldn't a big deal.

Or a stecil of course.

But wait! There's something I found on t3h internets:

BEHOOOOLD!

THEY definetly can provide you with the best informations about minifig customization you can possibly find in this sector of the galaxy.

(rofl, that one's fake but funny, though)

Uhm... how about i didn´t ask you?!

Uhm... so why are you asking at all if you might risk getting an answer from me, son?

Wow, I didn't expect so many replies...

I used plastercine to make the hair which is basically the same as moddeling clay but a bit softer, and it melts sometimes too :(

Thanks for the tip about using aluminium foil, i will probably try that tonight.

I painted the 'holy' 13 by hand, i painted a yellow patch on the back then basically painted blue over it.

Poor picture quality I know, but my camera seems to hate me so I used the webcam to take a picture of Vault/Pip/Fallout boy's face.

I am going to start building some places out of Lego, such as rooms from the vault, or... well I haven't decided yet. I want to make some Lego Fallout movies but i'm not sure, my first idea was to recreate parts of the game with Lego, or even ask somebody who writes a Fallout fan fiction if I could create thier story in Lego, ofcourse giving them full credit, although I wouldn't want to mess up and make anyones work look bad, so i probably won't go with my second idea. Well, I'll think through my options.

Oh i forgot, you are one of the original Fallout Team  i call it like i like to.
Leonard Boyarsky is the one who created the character and named him "Vault Boy", dumbass. Are you going to dispute his authority as well?

For the last time:

PIPBoy - The portable computer. Its mascot is a red-haired cowboy drawn in same style as Vault Boy.

Vault Boy - The blond-haired, blue jumpsuit-donning character from Vault-Tec didactic flicks. Also appears in illustrations that accompany Fallout attributes, skills, traits and other stats.

Try Green Stuff !

Maybe rebuild the Vault 13 door and make an animation where the vault dweller leaves the vault... of course with close-up shots of the blast door rolling aside. That's not a fan fiction but I think it's the best you could do to test your skills with stop motion animations.

Yeah. I've had it with you. One week ban until you learn some netiquette.

Good suggestion. Mostly because replaying existing animations lego style is easier and means you don't have to search for ideas. It'd be a lot of fun to watch, too.

Not too heavy on the green stuff, though, it ruins the lego feel. Heh.

The green stuff was just an alternative to the other... stuff... he used. Green Stuff dries on air (no baking, no melting!) and could be used for modelling a different set of hair. But actually I pretty much liked the hair-part the way it was.

I also had a suggestion about making a Lego mad Max4, as I also have a Lego Max

although i prefer the Fallout idea because Max has many cars and i jsut don't have the parts for that.

Very well done Vault14 :D This is the most funny stuff I've seen in ages... It really made me lough heartily. Keep it up.

Awesome! Been ages since I last held in a piece of LEGO.

Great stuff
