Fallout: New Vegas peripherals

So, we have some people that worked on Fallout 2 and some from Van Buren but nobody from F1?

Scott Everts and Feargus Urquhart both working on Fallout 1

Hmmm... I think there are most probably more known buildings in that skyline than just the Stratosphere, and I think we should be looking at that.

I'm not sure about this one, but I see a P in there and so I thought about the Palazzo (maybe the building changed since the fities, dunno):

There's a Vault Entrance in the mountain almost right under the moon. I think that's a Vault Entrance anyway. Could also be something Hoover Dam related, I guess.

The mountains should be on a map. Anyone here from Las Vegas?

Come to think of it, neither did the Stratosphere.
Well, either they made a huge mistake there or they're going with their own timeline of when these things were built.

I'm hoping it's the latter.

It's possible that Bethesda required them to put recognizable Vegas landmarks there.

Umm, the fact that our timeline diverged from Fallout one in fifties doesn't automatically mean that some buildings could not be built in both, does it?

Have we already reached the point where any questionable decision is attributed to mysterious and unverifiable influence from Bethesda?

Anyway, they probably put a space needle there for the same reason that Reagan and Joe Montana are referenced in FO2. Somebody thought it would be cool (in this case I agree) and they don't think there is a problem with referencing some real-world events that occurred after the FO universe began to differ from our own (I agree with that too). And space needles are pretty googie.

Agreed. It's more about tradition, and what kind of buildings they - with their predominant googie and art deco styles - would or would not build.

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1r6993&s=6 - doesn't really look like the real Stratosphere, more like something inspired by it. And the Stratosphere is pretty retro looking anyway.

And agreed. The Stratosphere is bordering on googie, and the name is very retro.

And indeed, I also noticed it doesn't actually look like the Stratosphere.

Except for the fact that it IS a stratosphere....

sighs.

Well, some might forget timelines making things. It happens in art a lot. ANyways, it looks like it will be dark, lonely and lots of rpg.

that's all one should care about.

overhaul??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? no way. They took a year or less to make NV and 12 years it has been since fallout2. just how fast do think an overhaul would take?

Agreed, it looks more like the Space Needle, which is from '61-'62, only with a different tower and lights sticking out of the side of the top.

Err... what? You might want to double check what the Stratosphere is...

No particular reason but here is LV of 1951
