Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition announced

It was about time.

I can no longer stand the French dubbing of my game, plus I want to buy all the DLC at the same time.

Btw, I really love the image they chose with the city and the guy seen from behind.

It's a shame there are no posters of this one.

Well, there is a similar one...maybe not that similar.
But there will probably be a poster of this one, too.

How will you be able to play the english version?
I'm thinking about getting the Ultimate Edition for that reason, too, but I'm not sure if I want to get through the trouble of getting a new Steam account and setting up proxies...

Well, I will just order an english version of the game on Amazon. That's what I do with all my video games.

It's not that the French dubbing is bad, it's more that I'd like to be able to hear Ron Perlman's and Michael Dorn's voice.

@ Atomkilla : thanks for the link.

Well, I can't play the english version in Germany, they trace the IP adress and won't allow an uncut version.
However, I just read that the Ultimate edition will be uncut in Germany.
I am so immensly pissed off right now.
At worst, I'd have to buy the fucking game twice for something I already have.
Fuck it, I will not do that.

Who, Steam? That's really easy to circumvent.

Nah, that's not correct. You can play the english version, but you have to buy either the english one or the *correct* german version (there are 2-- cut and uncut, in germany you can only buy the cut, in austria you can buy the uncut). The german cut version can only be played in german... because of whatever reason. Still, if you buy the correct version, you can play it in english. It's not so hard to buy the game from somewhere else, I think even on Amazon Marketplace you can buy the uncut version from third party people.

I asked Steam Support about that.
They answered that they can only allow the german cut version for german IPs, for some shady law reason. They simply were too lazy to give the english version to the BPjM.
So as far as I understand it, with a german IP adress you can't play an uncut version.

Steam Support does not have information on how it will work with the Ultimate edition yet. Maybe they'll allow english versions after that because they realized that it's fucking ridiculous.

@Brother None: I'm really not in the mood to set up proxy servers just so I can play a game in a way I actually have the right to.

Why not? It's not hard and Steam doesn't really have any security against it. I used it to play New Vegas on the US release date because staggered releases are retarded.

It's not that it's hard. It's that I shouldn't have to.
For fucks sake, I don't buy a car that only works on a very specific set of streets unless I get an elaborate fake ID when I already have a perfectly valid ID!
Why is it that I give them money but still have to trick the goddamn system in order to play a non-broken version (and the german translation is so bad that I actually consider it broken) when there is no actual reason for them to deny it to me?
There is no trouble with law. The trouble is that Bethesda as a publisher was too lazy to have the english version checked by the BPjM, until now.
And Steam is too lazy to implement a working age restriction, so they just don't sell certain items in Germany.
And the whole goddamn industry is too lazy to understand the german law on that matter (and seriously, it's not that hard, c'mon), so they censor their games preemptively (F:NV) or just don't release them at all (AvP).
I'm simply pissed off that I actually pay to be fucked up the arse by the industry.
And I can't even ragequit my Steam account, because HOORAY, every goddamn game requires it, and unless I want to resort to piracy, I can't really get around it.

And the customer, who gets kicked around for no good reasons? Who waits for games longer just because?
"Well, it's not hard to circumvent that. You just bend over and have some lube ready"
Fuck that.

Sorry for the angry rant, the whole situation just pisses me off.

Probably not.
Well, I think I will simply quit (newer) games. Don't have the time and motivation, anyway.
I like how Steam helps indie devs, but to me it's just not worth it anymore.

Hah, I'm kind of amused they avoid the Game of the Year label.
Bethesda would sue them if they used it.

Also, while we're on the subject. Why everyone doesn't pirate the game they buy (i.e. play the cracked version) is completely beyond me. I for one do that for 90% of the games I buy.

Mostly because I don't have a DVD reader anymore :P

But newer games, they're worse than a simple CD check anyway.

Until STEAM is needed in order to play, I will not consider playing it at all. :newevil:
