Fallout Quest Ideas

Nonagon

Still Mildly Glowing
I've played through Fallout 2 many many times, and done pretty much all the quests, played a 1 int char and all that and I can't help but notice that the quests get a little boring doing them so many times. So I thought, maybe I should make a mod that adds a ton more quests(20-30 at least). Any of you guys have any good stories/ideas for a quest? Name the location, quest-giver, quest, etc.

EDIT: Oops, I fucked up, I think this is supposed to be in Fallout modding

If you just want people to write their ideas for quests, then I don't see a problem with leaving the thread here. If you plan on discussing mod design, however, start a thread in Fallout General Modding.

I think there should be a quest involving a ring...

Nah, for seriousnessicity now...

It would be nice if there was a quest that had to do with the Keycard you find on the dead Enclave guy near the crashed Vertibird at Klamath.

I reckon they mented to make that thing usefull, but unfortunately they didn't.

Maybe a nice idea for a mod would be one where you finish all the quests that should be finished...

now this is an interesting topic, i think there are tons of ideas in my mind about quests. For instance: do something with the encounter with the aliens (fallout 1), there is a fuzzy painting on one of those aliens (the other one has the alienblaster), i have never been able to do anything with it so i think it's useless.
Another thing is that there are a lot of keys in fallout 1, but you can't use them some quests would be handy...
The last thing i'd like to suggest is a big fat bonus for killing everyone in a town (i love to do that:P), the most fun thing i would like to have is that after killing everyone in a town you could sell the town to a group of raiders or something (and after selling it, killing everyone again, hehe). that are about all the ideas i have atm. only thing 1 thing is left, the glow. I love the glow and i think it would be really cool if you had more things to do there.
If someone might think "why doesn't bullseye talk about fallout 2?" there is a plain reason for that: i might suggest something wich is already in the game, i didn't do everything in fallout 2.

Technicaly a good idea.

Didn't like this that much!

Anyway:

Whatever the quests are, they should be really rewarding. Not just caps, stims, exp, etc...
Something unique.
Something special.
Something, that gives you the opportunity for other quests.

What about tech raiders (hackers) which have their base at an old Vault Net Control Building/Vault or so? Like an "EVIL" counterpart to the brotherhood. ;)
They have even more theoretical knowledge than the Brotherhood, but they are unorganized, lack in practical skills and have no equipment to develop such technology.
You could do some jobs for them, like stealing from the brotherhood, killing guys, this might add new quest for the brotherhood and give the many (useless) brotherhood bases in F 2 a sense. (you could steal there etc.)
Of course there should be a way to make everything GOOD or BAD or TOTALY FUCKED UP at the end.
1. Good way: You make the raiders and the brotherhood work together, so the brotherhood gains it's strenght again and make the wastelands a better, safer and cleaner place.
2. Bad way: You can make the raiders fuck up the brotherhood.
3. OMFG way: You make the raiders sell themselves to the Enclave, which gives them new technology. (in such a case, you have to destroy navarro in 30 days, or the enclave is gonna attack EVERY town in the wastelands and they fight against the brotherhood paladins and supermutants, guards and citizens.

I totally love FedEx-quests. Add some of those, preferably FedEx-quests with an insane mileage, like 'Hey, duder, go get me that package from San Francisco!' but when you arrive in San Francisco, you hear that the package was transported to Arroyo, so you're off to Arroyo only to find out that someone stole the package and - dawgunnit! - that someone went straight to San Francisco. And so on.
I love quests like that. They are so fulfilling, don't you find?

Fixing the quests that the developers forgot to implement completely seems like a swell idea. And do something with the key(s) you find in Kilian's shop in Junktown. That was an item that always bugged me. That and the single issue of the Cat's Paw. They should have done something with those two items.

maybe like some quest where you only have like an combat knife and there are 100 angry people (the reason why they are angry, of course, you must design it) so like yeah you must them knife all down, till the bloody end. im sure that would be much fun, ahh i guess not so nice, better some grenades, like where you can watch them in a cage running for their lives and you just throwing grenades on them. ahahaha... ops i mean not..

or like you have sex with some quest prostitute and then you found out, that you have aids and stuff, and you must run to an doctor and he makes jokes about you, so you must fight against him to get the antidote stuff, but he is such a smartass, cause he got 5 cybernetic dogs around him, and robotoers and all that. jeah.

(ahh just leave me the whole part, i am the most creative guy in this forum anyway)

I wish they had a quest in which you were able to turn in the Dunton (Is that right?) brothers for harrasing Torr, but it seems like they meant to include that anyway.

That actually sounds pretty lame.

But I agree with alec, we definitely need more FedEx quests...

Or maybe more of those quests where you have to talk to one person to find out you have to talk to someone else who re-directs you to the one who gave you the quest in the first place!

I was actually thinking along the lines of just adding a guy in here and there, just to make more things to do. For example, add a guy in Arroyo that needs his spear back from his friend, if you get it, 200 exp, and each town gets its own complexity of quests, Arroyo, being the first would get the simplest, see?

The Brotherhood IS evil.

A quest with the simple premise of payback, perhaps. Some raider jerk-off shoots your dog, beats you and leaves you for dead in some alley, whatever. The only real motivation initially would be to kick some ass... but then you meet a small posse of other disgruntled folks who want this guy turned into radscorpion chow. You hook up with 'em, track the bastard down, kill him and a couple of his buddies OK Corral style, and when it comes time to divvy up the spoils, your posse might come unglued and more lead gets swapped upside people's heads...

I personally like the sound of an entirely optional "Payback" quest which would reflect the player's true nature... turn the other cheek? eye for an eye? You embark on a dark journey when you choose to tread the path of vengeance.

The bro'hood isn't REALLY evil. They just follow their wicked A-BETTER-WORLD-OF-TOMORROW retro shit ideals. In the fallout world they're not evil. They're just hardcore.
In fact their NAZIs.

The payback idea is good. But wasn't that, what you did with the Chopshoppers in Fallout 2? You could talk to them, fuck them up, or even BUY your shit back from them.

Yeah, the chopshoppers in New Reno kinda fall under payback, i guess. Anyone who actually paid to get the car back (or slept with him for it *shudder*) needs to grow a spine and a pair of balls. T-Ray's ass is grass from the first millisecond he fucked with me. Actually there isn't a single character in New Reno i like aside from perhaps Father Tully, they're all scum who try to fuck with you... but that's a different story.

Payback stories are good, and INFINITELY satisfying IMO... though there is more than one side to a story. There are complications that result (or should) from exacting revenge. While liquefying T-Ray and his chums was fun there was no real substance to it. He didn't have any friends who came for you afterwards... there were no moral, financial or societal repercussions for wasting many folks in F2. In F1 there were actually sometimes decent reasons not to turn some folks into deathclaw chow. In F2... i killed the entire enclave base, including Raul and Cookie... i leveled New Reno, massacred them to a man... I wiped Modoc and the slags off the face of the earth... and it really wasn't a big deal. I didn't like any of them, they didn't "grow" on me, they had no SOUL. But Killian from F1 is a cool dude, and I really didn't want to kill the Master either. Killing people should be a BIG deal. Which is why a "Payback" story can be a thought-provoking thing. Eye for an eye, turn the other cheek... you get the idea.

FedEx Quests suckz!!! ... if you ever played Planescape:Torment, you would knew that i am right, just need to say: The Mar quest with this stupid box. (Fallout > Planescape) with FeedEx Quests (Fallout = Planescape)

Arroyo quests mhh...

Make a lovestory beetwen Hakunin and the Elder.
Your Quest is to bring those together.
Should be some great animations to see them lying in a tent together.

How about a quest to wipe out a cannibal cult that is hiding out in the hills? First you have to find them by listening to rumors in a bar and tracking down some old trapper who used to work in the area.

Also you could have members of the cult hanging around the towns collecting info on where and when the caravans are leaving the towns and how well armed they are. These same members could hear about your investigation and ambush you in or near the town.

The cannibals could have been miners who ran out of food and had to eat one of their number to survive and they enjoyed the man flesh so much they had to get more and more. Or you could make it that the cannibals caught some weird brain virus from their Brahmin and went nuts and developed a taste for the human flesh.

a) I would love it if I could like, build streets, schools and bus stops and maybe, but this might be too far fetched, lay out my own sewer system!! WOW! It would like solve the whole water issue in the wastes!

b) I would love to have the master as a companion.

c) more movie references. maybe a location like "the hills have eyes". finding a trailer in the desert and voices saying "daddy.. daddy..." and that sort of stuff.

edit: I guess the last one is less time consuming

Please tell me you're joking.

Sander. Be a bitch and delete his post like you did with mine. Come on!

Anyway. There are canibals in the game. But you acutally just waste bullets on them. They're random encounters... so it seems like some people in the wastes are REALLY despered.
