This is a great read for people who are really interested in wanting to know of a real... but secret, US government fallout shelter.
I found out about the location of this fallout shelter (I believe is secret to the public) before I played the fallout series. I played the game 3 months ago so I'm all new to the series. Anyways, so this is what I found out ...
A real, and secret government fallout shelter...
The last place anyone would think a real fallout shelter would exist in ...is in Orlando, Florida USA. Home of Disney World! ugh...
I'm from LA but I lived in Orlando, Florida for over 10 years before I moved.
About 3 years ago. I got a job working as a tollbooth attendant for the Orange Country Convention Center.
The government had spent money making a new convention center in that area when I started working there. Not necessarily replacing the old one, just joining them two together. There were now two buildings. The West building, and the North/South Building.

The OCCC now ranks third in size in the United States, with over 2.2 million ft² of exhibition space. The two buildings contain 7 million ft² of total space.
Visually, it doesn’t look too bit but I was people who worked here always bragged how both the buildings can hold as many as 4 Boeing 777 Jets. It’s true, It’s HUGE!
Where I worked was usually the parking lot. As a tollbooth person. I wasn’t really in charge of much, just take money and hand tickets… . And the people who work there were really old. Like this one guy who was a really nice person, he was in his 80’s! He had like grand grand children XD but man he was in great health; almost everyone there was in great health.
They always liked seeing young people there. I actually got a job there because my best friend, her father use to work there so she and I got a job there together and we use to work the tollbooths.
We both worked there for over a year! It was fun; barely anyone came to the tollbooth. We could read books, listen to music, or play games on the ds/psp ☺ good times.
There were different divisions working there. The people that set up the convention center, exhibitors and then the business people handling all the money, from the exhibitors. I was in the business division. I became very close to the staff there and that’s when I found out about the Fallout Shelter.
One of the managers was taking me for a drive around the North/South building
when he started whispering to me, in a mild tone.
“Hey, so if there is ever a problem, if anything major started happening around the world, this place is safe…”
And I was like… “What do you mean? Like a hurricane?” I thought this was all a work related conversation…
“Well, say for instance there was a worldwide incident or if we got attacked by the terrorists with chemical bombs…”
“uh-huh … “ I was all like WTF? … go on …
“There is an underground shelter built under the convention center. It’s big enough to hold up to 1 million people. You know that right? The majority of employees know this.”
I was like Ooh… “Like if there was a nuclear bomb that drops here? There is a shelter for that?! Um… “ Ok, I don’t know how you would react when you are told about a shelter THAT HUGE! 1 million people is A LOT OF PEOPLE. I have never heard of such a thing… remember I had never played Fallout at the time so I could not fathom the possibility why we would need one…
“It can be anything… Do you want me to show you the gate to the underground area?” he said…
I SHOULD HAVE SAID YES! But I said …
“Um , nah, it’s cool, we don’t have to go there now, I need to get back to the booth, but where is the entrance though?”
We were in the south hall exhibitor entrance when he pointed to a little tunnel going under the building… amazing…
“It’s right there, that tunnel leads to it…”
And that was that.
A couple of months later, some of those hurricanes hit. Remember that? Four hurricanes hit Florida in one month. Charley etc etc…
While I was working there, they used the convention center as an evacuation center.

There were a lot more articles about this but I can’t find any. While I was working there, they used the north/south halls for all the evacuees.
I saw some amazing things there while this whole hurricane thing was happening.
For instance …
They used this entrance for a lot of helicopters around the area (News choppers) and many government planes as well! They all landed near the parking lot so I got the front seats to all the choppers and planes coming in and being dragged into that little tiny gate.
It was amazing how many things the government fit into the building before some of the hurricanes hit. I was surprised… but I didn’t think anything of it afterwords…
Another thing I found out later on is the AMOUNT Spent to build the north/south hall. There was a HUGE riot in Orlando about the price for the North/South halls.
$800,000,000
That’s $800 million. More than Half a billion dollars was spent on it. And the building does not look like an expensive building from the inside you guys. I always use to go to the North/South halls for lunch and everything from the carpet used to the lighting used was not glamorous as all… it was just cheep looking. Everything, even down to the toilets were cheep dirty cheep toilet you guys. Like the ones you’d find in a gas station.
One would think that with so much money spent on a building, there would at least be automatic flush toilets but there were not.
I was mad too. They spent so much money on a building that just looks cheep… They spent the taxpayer’s money to make this building. Where did the money go?
A fallout shelter seems more and more likely. Plus I don’t think these old people have any merits to lie to me about a fallout shelter actually existing under the building…. I don’t see why they would lie to me about this…. They were just concerned that if anything was to happen, I would know where to go and where to take my family.
I do believe there is a fallout shelter under the convention center. It just seems more obvious than not …
So that concludes my report on the area….
If there is ever a problem. If something was to happen. At least you now know of one place in the east coast that you can go to.
