Fallout Tactics all races mod?

Steel_Hedgehog

First time out of the vault
I'm not a programmer, but I think it wouldn'tbe too difficoult to make such a mod.
In the multiplayer there is a possibility to play a ghoul, Super Mutant, Android or a dog? Is it possible to play the campaign with any other race except human? I already heard that someone made a mod that makes the players character a brahmin.
So why not other races like in the multiplayer?
Or a mod that will transfer a multiplayer character into a normal game?
Is something like that possible?

Races mod

How to get the races mod to work? I put the 4 prefab files into my entities_0.bos but i can't choose anithing other then human at character creation. I would really like to play as a deathclaw.

Please help me.

If you havent found out yet.. there are now 4 premade chars available.. You must choose one and edit it...

FOT Races Mod Help

I know this may be a stupid question, but how do you install the races mod in FOT so you can play as a Deathclaw or other races?

Help me please

I'm playing Fallout Tactics right now. I downloaded the FOT Races Mod and I do not know how to make it work. Do I extract the files to one of the Tactics folders or what? Please help me. Thank you.

I would have done that, but there aren't any help or readme files that come with the mod. The only thing that you download is four prefab.ent files.

prefab.ent? What does the mod do? I'd guess it has something to do with the chars you start with. And yes you have to put them into a folder somewhere inside FOT folder. BUt uwhich one I have no clue.

Me thinks it makes the rest of your team as a multi-racial group. Like the village people me thinks.

Races is a zipfile. Just extract it to your Tactics directory and it should work just fine.

Mind you, though: the "races" are just 4 prefab characters and will erase (some of) the other prefab characters. Also: when I used it, the stats of the characters (esp. mutant and deathclaw) were severely corrupted. So you might also need to DL some FOT character editor so you can adjust some of the stats.

And it's not really a mod.

mod vt.,n. [very common] 1. Short for `modify' or `modification'. Very
commonly used -- in fact the full terms are considered markers that one
is being formal. The plural `mods' is used esp. with reference to bug
fixes or minor design changes in hardware or software, most esp. with
respect to patch sets or a diff. 2. Short for modulo but used
_only_ for its techspeak sense.

Mod or modification is also a term generally applied to computer games, especially first-person shooters such as Quake, DOOM and Half-Life, but also to real-time strategy games such as Warcraft III and the Command & Conquer series. Mods are made by the general public, and are entire new games upon themselves. They can include new items, weapons, characters, enemies, models, modes, textures, levels, and story lines. They also usually take place in unique locations. They can be single-player or multiplayer.

A great many do not progress very far and are abandoned without ever having a public release. Some are very limited and just include some gameplay changes or even a different loading screen, while others are total conversions and can modify content and gameplay extensively. A few mods become very popular and convert themselves into distinct games, with the rights getting bought and turning into an official modification.

It's a partial modification, but it's still a mod.
What most people call a mod, that is, a full modification, was called a "TC" last century (i.e. when people modded StarCraft and modding was not as hip yet):

Wikipedia said:
A total conversion, in the gaming sense, is a modification of an existing game where the end result bears little resemblance to the original on which the conversion was based. Many games provide players with the ability to edit the game's many elements: levels, sounds, enemies, and so on. Most modifications are limited in scope, resulting in a partial conversion. Total conversions are less common, mainly because of the large amount of development and man-time needed to bring a whole project together.

Beg your pardon?
Well, tl:dr means "too long: didn't read". One can only assume that dc is "didn't care"

Can't blame me for the length of what's written at Wikipedia.

Besides... I got a resolution of 1600x1200 so that post was only a couple of lines.

Also be careful on the quote piramids. It doesnt really bother me but a lot of people dont like it (including mods and admins ;) )

Not that it would matter in a world where everyone ran at 1600x1200 :) (At home I still use a 15" monitor running 800 x 600)
