FO.2 crashing in Vault 13

First time out of the vault
Win XP. Fallout 2 vers. 1.02

I'm pretty late in the game and whenever I enter Vault 13 the game crashes with an error message about memory reading or something. Its driving me nuts because I need the naviagion hardware for the tanker. Either I need to find a way to fix this or get a good inventory editor to cheat the nav. stuff into my inv.

I already tried a reinstall.
please help.
 
Install WINDOWS 2000 or 98, windows XP sucks!!!! I don't like it... to long to load, some program aren't compactible with him, XP is NEW... have many BUGs, need time to be good. Like I say, a Windows will only become good when he is old, because his bugs are fixed. :)
