FO themed clock

PsychoSniper

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
note: I think this topic cold semi belong in general FO discussion or moding and hacking as well, but since it mainly deals with art,I posted here, (that, and thats what Kotario recomended, although its not his fourm as he mentioned, so feel free to move if you decide it doesnt belong)

Basicly, my idea is to take the pipboy graphics and extract them, and modify them into a basic clock w/o anyhthing else, then make a program that uses them as a custom FO clock. However, I sort of suck at programing (lack even basic knowledge) so Ill need someone to help with that part.

Any takers ?

No, what im envisioning would be analog, useing the graphics you see in thepipboy screen.

Pics soon Wooz, Im extracting the last bits of what I think would be needed now.

EDIT

PipboyWatch.gif

Basicly, a program that displays this as a finctional clock. However, the exact look will be changed somewhat proably.

EDIT Again.......

OPBASE000000.bmp

Im thinking having this be the background for the clock itself, and insert the various buttons and displays onto it.

MONTHS000000.bmp

Heres the extracted months from FO.......

And heres the numbers themselves.....

NUMBERS000000.bmp

heres the alarm clock buton
ALARMIN000000.bmp
Im assuming itd be possible to program it to have an alarm feature (that would play an audio file)

Anyway, Ill extract more as I go, and soon Ill start actualy aranging hte new clock interface.....

HA! I actually made that in the part of Fallout Tycoon: Rebirth that I finished before it got formatted. When you started a new city the calendar in the upper-right corner would set itself to what the real month was.

When I get home, I can whip that up in 20 mins.

Cool, thatll be a good place to start.................

Ill still keep up what I was gona do, have a second clock avalible.

Good idea, but I'm a bit confused: do you mean a real-life clock, or a computer clock?

Also: how are you planning on making an analog clock out of the digital FO clock?

I mean as a compter program. And by analog, I mean the analog numbers from the pipboy.

EDIT- Ok, heres the 2 basic templates Im thinking of.....

The clock itself..........
Template2.gif

And the expanded clock w/any extra features added or the menu for the alarm open......... still need to make the interface for the alarmclock feature though

Template1a.gif

EDIT again..........
This would be the alarm menu.... clicking the alarm button would open it to this, then you could set the alarm time/date
baseset.gif

EDIT yet again..............

basicly what Im thinking of right now is this.......itll set itself off of your computers clock. clicking the alarm icon on the clock
Template2.gif
will expand it to the alarm menu
baseset.gif
. in the alarm menu, you can set the time you want it to go off at, (date/month/year would be blank by defualt, but could be set if desired). Clicking on the alarm button in the alarm menu would let you browse for a sound file to play for the alarm. When youre all set, youd click the OK button

how are you suposed to use this thing then? Will you have to start up the program or will it be integrated into windows somehow? I don't know what's possible because I got absolutely no knowlage in programming...

easiest way to integrate a simple clock is to make it in html (webpage) & have it display as your desktop/background/theme thingy. (if i wasnt completely graphicly impaired i'd whip it up for you with nixxie & FO graphics)

you could make an alarm but it dont think many of us would use that...

I also suck at programing..... why Im just making the graphics.

What Im thinking is 2 things..... have it be a regular program window that you can view (have a button for it on the windows bar that pops it up) or have it be a browser toolbar (though that would sortof require a mozilla FO skin too.....)

Meh, I get the two mixed up.... :p

EDIT

And this would be an example of what it might look like. Either as a browser extension, or as a program that can be minimised to the programs tray (the alarm clock icon I added for that as an example..... maybe have it be a popup program, you click on the button in the tray it pops up, you click on something else it closes again.)

Whoa Psychosniper great idea! I would love to have that on my PC...you seem to handle those graphics nicely...

Any Fallout-themed addon is welcome.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Thanks VD

Ok, nother question time.......... since Calc says he can do it in flash.

you know how when you have IM programs open their icon is appears on the lowerr right part of the windows bar ?

Anyone know if a flash object could assign itself a icon ike that ?

If so, it could be done where Calc made the flash clock, then when you opend it, it had that button appear........

If you click anyware, the clock minimises, but pops again when Uclick the icon
