Gamespot on Troika closing rumors

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
Gamespot has posted an article on the rumors surrounding Troika of their imminent closing. While most of the info in the article will be familiar to the posters at NMA, they do have more to add:

When presented with the Mandrew posts, Boyarsky did not deny their authenticity. "We wish that [post] hadn't gotten out," he told GameSpot. "We're not ready to talk about it now. I'll answer questions at another time." As to when exactly that time will be, Boyarsky would only say, "We're working on a post [to be sent out] by the end of February." So until company officials say otherwise, Troika is officially open for business.

So still not official, but it seems pretty clear what's going on.

Thanks to Briosafreak for catching this one.

Didn't want to post it in the news entry, but I'm still holding on to a shred of hope here. It's kind of strange, last year around this time I was waiting for news that Interplay was finally dead after all the rumors, now I'm waiting for news that Troika is still alive after all the rumors.

An a feeble attempt to look on the bright side, I am now "one poster", the big times baby!

Sigh... I guess Troika ran into some trouble around November, and have been trying to find some way out of it ever since. I mean, are they still holding out for a publisher's project? I was under the impression working those out was a long proecess, not something that could just happen. Or, are they just trying to tie up all loose ends before making it official? I do hope this announcement comes soon, and that it actually answers some questions. Well, here's to hoping Obsidian actually gets around to making something original.

I dont think theres any problem with them getting hired. It's with them willing to move to Maryland to get the job.

I liked how they didn't really say he was one, but instead implied it through logic:

Premise) NMA is run by rabid fallout fans
Premise) Odin runs NMA
Conclusion) Odin is a rabid fallout fan

Hehe, aww Thor you still bear grudge over our little debate.. How lubly! :D

'ey, ain't no such thang as bad publicity homey.

I mean, this time he credits us rather than just taking what he wants. Go Thor!

When one poster questioned Mandrew's veracity, another identified him as Andrew Meggs, lead programmer for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, the role-playing-game/first-person-shooter hybrid Troika released last year.

Yes, it's called "verifying the source", Thor. Something you still have yet to really do other than copy from other sites. It IS good that you finally give credit, but I'm sure you only did that else you'd look stupid for quoting someone's forums without credit.

While irritated, Mandrew did not deny he was Meggs. "I would have answered the question myself," he wrote in a subsequent post. "Posting someone else's real-life info without permission is pretty much universally considered a rude thing to do."

Thor, I could imagine that YOU would have had problems figuring out the obvious, but most people could have discerned the obvious from his user name and e-mail address. So if it wasn't the guy himself, it would be most beneficial to weed out someone who claimed to be said person and claimed such details. It's kind of like the user name "Bleon" and the e-mail chefboyarsky@developmentstudio.com. Then there's the initial post of "(And any of you who are reading this and don't see your current employer listed, by all means PM me. Let's not lose touch.)", which...fuck it, Thor, you never did read too durn gud. It is useless to explain the importance of understanding context to you at this point.

The whole "real life details" is kind of moot by then, because we do something other than take a few quotes and make it sound flowery to pad in paragraphs, Thor. We try to verify the accuracy of the rumors, rather than just cherry pick quotes from a forum. Try to keep up.

-----------------------
Just to prove a point, I will now give Thor some "revealing news" since he wouldn't have been capable of it on his own. Andrew Meggs is the employee that went to Mythic Entertainment.

OHSHIT! Was I supposed to let that leak?
