Carlin was one great man, I tell you what. I grew up watching his shows and I always thought that it was his comedy that helped me break free of my religion early on. Rest in peace, man.

Unfortunately I did. I saw him do stand up live about a year ago. He kept canceling his shows because of health problems and the show I had tickets for got pushed back four months before I finally saw him. I'm just glad I got to see him before he went.
Too bad we have to call him counter-culture, because 85% of my country still think there is an all-perfect omnipresent being in the heavens.
I've always thought that number was a little high. I think a lot of people just have a religion by default and it doesn't occur to them that leaving it is an option. How many of those people do you think are truly devout and how many do you think just pay lip service? I think a good chunk of that 85% are atheists and don't realize it yet or are just in the closet about it because they don't want to admit it to their families who may not take it well. If you ever sat down and read what is in the Bible and not just what you hear in sermon then you start to see it for the major league bullshit that it is.

For 15 verses, God gives long, tiresome, and disgusting instructions for the treatment of men who have a "running issue" out of their "flesh." Very enlightening. "And if he that hath the issue spit upon him that is clean..." - Leviticus 15:1-15
God also has very specific rules for defecating. Carefully cover up all feces "for the Lord walketh in the midst of thy camp." (You wouldn't want the divine foot to step in your shit, would you?) - Deuteronomy 23:12-14
