I thought I should post this before I head off to dreamland. George Lucas almost destroyed the Star Wars franchise for me and many others. I can't complain too much, but I am glad he is retiring. George Romero should retire too by the way. Hopefully now they will quit adding to the fucking original trilogy. I don't care who is standing at the end of ROTJ, but if they add one more person to the lineup, I will jam a toy lightsaber through my fucking eye socket.

I could literally rant and rave about Star Wars for days. What was Lucas thinking? How many times can you edit a movie, take things out, put things in, and completely change everything, before it gets absurd? I guess people expected too much from the prequel trilogy, but can you really blame them? I was pretty content with the series, despite the prequels shortcomings, but when I watched the Special Edition of ROTJ... I couldn't stand it. The corny cg scene with the dancing alien completely changed the atmosphere of the beginning of ROTJ! It was almost like a different movie. The cg was laughable at best which made it even worse. Why would you go back to a classic movie like that, and gaudy it up with half-ass computer effects? About half of what they added in the SE was good, but the other half was not so great.

The worst part is you can hardly find a good copy of the pre-special edition Star Wars Trilogy in stores. You have to go through Ebay or other places like that. They just push the Blu-Ray Special Edition 3D with all the bells and whistles. I just want the orginal trilogy without the extra scene bullshit, but I want it in HD quality. I don't want 3D scenes tacked on to it. I don't want a handjob at the end of ROTJ. I don't want a half-ass Cg Jabba the Hutt slithering around in Episode 4, but unable to move in Episode 6.

For now I am content with the Special Edition I guess. I have to turn my brain off in certain parts, or simply tell myself, " It's only a movie. It is alright. Don't hate Lucas. He gave you a good trilogy. Star Wars is awesome."........

/Endrant.

From a die-hard Star Wars fan......

P.S: Star Trek sucks.

Read the actual NYT interview, and note he's only retiring from big-budget, AAA films. And that he notes another Indy Jones film might lure him back, so don't jinx it.

Maybe he'll show his actual creative side again if he goes back to not humping franchises and making smaller films.

Yeah I saw that. That may keep Star Wars safe for awhile. I'm not so sure about Indy. The last one was pretty bad in parts. I heard a rumor about a live-action Star Wars series. I hope not honestly. They should stick with the animated stuff for now. George Lucas is overrated as a director, but in other ways he excels. They need to learn when to quit.

He's sort of like Hideo Kojima, likes to say he's retiring every now and again but always comes back.

Red Tails is Lucas' latest effort, supposedly it isn't bad.

is it a remake of the 90s movie or a completely new thing based on the same source material?

New thing, same source. In fact, this one was conceived like 25 years ago, before the 90s TV movie was ever made.

I was about to say "At least we did not have any whiny or asshole overgrown teenagers but unfortunate I can not say that after the latest movie.

Well at least the ST universe is not dead locked in an eternal war between 'good' and 'evil' that rears its ugly head every few centuries, wipes out planets and establishes brutal empires that are overthrown again by a small group.

And there are not loads übermensch individuals running around who can manipulate your free will, fry you with lightning or throw heavy objects with their minds.

:D

As for Lucas possibly coming back to Indiana Jones, I honestly hope not.
As an Indy fan I already felt the franchise suffered with "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", and I honestly don't want Lucas to drag it down any further.

Let Indy live on through comics and computer games.

seriously. Dont take it seriously when people like Lucas say " I retire ".

I am definitely not saying he is lyng. But he is not just someone doing a job in some company for 40 or 60 years where he quits at some point thinking "this is it!".

If you do what Lucas is doing then you spend more then just work in it. You spend your heart and spirit in it. How do you quit from what is part of your self ? You cant. Not really. I mean art is what fills my life. I want to earn money with it at some point. How could I retire from something which means so much for me ? I would not be surprised if it means the same for Lucas.

Even though Indy 4 was not as bad as I expected I'm really tired of Lucas. They should just let the series sleep.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I actually love Star Trek. The newest movie was decent, but I still prefer Kirk and Picard. Indiana should stay dead for twenty years , then they should reboot it. Anything with Lucas or Spielberg involved makes me nervous nowadays. The quality has really went down hill.

I didn't like the new Star Trek movie. They need to give the time travel schtick a rest. Just because they had a couple of good time travel episodes in the original series, it doesn't make a time travel story automatically good. Also, this new Kirk got his butt kicked in every fight scene of that movie (Ensign Cupcake). That's not the James T. Kirk I grew up with.

As for Indy, I thought Crystal Skull was better than Temple of Doom, but not as good as Lost Ark or Last Crusade. It could have been better, but it could have been worse too. They need to leave it alone and let Indy go before they really screw it up (Indy vs Ewoks?). As for a future reboot, I would say no. Harrison Ford turned out to be the perfect choice for the role; lightning in a bottle. I doubt they would be able to do that again. They've tried it with a TV series and it didn't work. Time to move on.

Yeah but 20 years from now is a different story. Harrison Ford will be dead. I see Hollywood bringing back the classic movies eventually. I don't think it is a good idea necessarily, but I think it will happen anyway. Another guy could play Indy well enough. Harrison Ford is kinda a dick anyway. Someone else could fill the role, just like someone else can play Mad Max. In theory anyway.... :)

what do you think ? Will we ever see new Star Wars sequelz which continue the story after the 6th movie ?

Wouldn't count on it. ADRIAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!11111111

Indy 4 was absolutely awful. The action scenes were awful, the acting tepid, the story asinine, and the ending beyond retarded.

What does that matter? That doucheface Shia Labeauf is already set up to be his replacement.

I just think it would be easier to have a new series with Harrison gone. If Shia is the replacement then Indy is dead to me. I like Shia in some movies, but not in Indy. I thought they were setting it up for him, but hoped that the fans could dissuade them.

Let's just hope Lucas doesn't see this and changes Darth Vader into a space panther in one of his future epic revivals. BTW that's a real Star Wars poster, russian style.
