Gothic 3 Gone Gold.

I just wanna mention this game is made by a german Developer 8)

not that its important, but just let ya know.
i mean we havent won the world cup, so jeah

Gothic 3 has been recalled.

the already printed cd's are scrapped, all game mag & game site tests are invalid and they're reprinting Gothic 3 from a new goldmaster, because the old goldmaster contained some bugs that appearantly really needed to be fixed (and not by some lameass patch on release, k?).

gotta respect it tbh, scrapping the already printed CD's/DVD's. not that many wouldve done that.

Some Gothic III reviews have been rolling in, they're pretty good so far though I don't think any major publications have reviewed it yet. Though Oblivion got awesome reviews and I hated that game. I think I'll wait until a few people on this forum buy it and check it out before I consider getting it.

Lucky Europeans, I have to wait until November 13th to play. I guess on the plus side they'll have a patch by then though.

Report from Germany

Well actually they released a patch the day they released the patch...

Most game mags gave this game a score between 85- 90%.

I am reading through some fan forums and most of them really like the game although some argue that the new combat system isn*t good at all an the whole combat is seriously unbalanced. Others report to have performance issues.

On the other hand most of the player don*t have problems with the new combat system or performance at all.

I'll give it a run.

Haven't gotten around to the first two, but I might.

so was Arcanum's, but it's still a kickass game nonetheless. :)

Well... Installed and patched. First time i tried to run it, BLUE SCREEN! Second time, i hear audio but the monitor says "Out of range"... Won't this be a fun challenge.

first impressions:
- quest system could use a tune-up (for clarity, better questdescriptions & locations)
- combat system needs tweaking (especially vs wildlife when being higher level)
- AI shouldve been a bit brighter (as an archer you can pick them off, retreat, reset & repeat)
- inventory management is teh weird (infinite space & weight? wtf?)
- game runs kinda heavy (they couldve left out some useless eyecandy)
- there are endless amounts of (useless) herbs everywhere (oblivionstyle: wtf is that about?)
- most of the time you need to visit trainers to level any skills, which is a drag (there are the odd quest that raise some skills, but they are rare)
- loading time is pretty bad

more later.

Great, the game won't run becuase I have a dual core. Fucking brilliant, suppose now I'll sit here waiting for them to patch the game to a playable state... How did they not discover this problem in the betas? Alot of people have dual core these days!

I broke down and ordered the UK version. I'm kind of worried about all the bugs and the I've been hearing about, but the game sounds too good to wait until November. The combat I'll have to experience first hand - too many of the complaints about fighting sound exactly like the complaints people still make for Gothic 1 and 2, so I feel like it's impossible to tell whether the combat is borked or if they're just expecting it to be a cakewalk and freaking out when it isn't.

... Any good news?

And Josh... you can always turn a core off.

Well yeah, I read about a guy who is doing that. Still though, he isn't having a smooth time with it, and it's not exactly a very convenient option.

Never been able to play the first 2 games, but this one looks like it will win me over :D

Not sure when it is out in Oz though.

This game eats memory like crazy!

I find it a bit strange, that not a single woman have had anything to say. Is it a part of the setting?
