Greenpeace Germany parody video inspired by Fallout intro?

Greenpeace Germany put up a parody video in response to a recent video ad by one of the largest energy corporations (RWE). Somehow I can't shake the feeling someone played Fallout before coming up with the idea:

When I red the title of this thread I was intrigued and, well...., I can certainly see the resemblance, either from FO1 or from the FO3 preview, so...

Alright who was it?!

For the RWE ad, the strip mining seemed rather out of place. Otherwise it's quite well done. The greenpeace one lost me however (perhaps its my lack of understanding of German). Do windmills, tidal farms, and mining equate to a barren landscape, with mini-fires?

I'd be more worried about the giant green terrain monster...

for the RWE, the strip mining is to show they do strip mine, but after they are done they fill it all back up and then plant grass on top.

and you dont even have had to have played fallout to get the logical progression between the ads.

although it is very reminiscent of FO...

Uh, is it that hard to grasp the message that RWE's ad is propaganda?

Death to RWE!

Greenpeace has shown me the light!

The fact that I only know 6 words of German has no bearing if the world will be ruined by RWE's giant green man and his terrible Wind Turbines of Satan!

A rough translation of the German text in the Greenpeace video would amount to something like:

15% of electricity in Germany came from renewable sources in 2008.
The share of renewable energies from electricity production at RWE amounted to only 2%

(Richtig) Really
(Wenig) Little
(Erneuerbare Energien) Renewable energies

The text is ambiguous though, on whether RWE actually only had 2% of its own production in renewable energy, or whether the production of RWE only amounted to 2% of all renewable energy production in Germany during that year. I wouldn’t put it beyond Greenpeace to spike the numbers a bit either really, and to in fact aim at the ambiguity. But that might just be my own personal bias against an organization that aims at being asshats to get their point across.

"Uh, is it that hard to grasp the message that RWE's ad is propaganda?"

Silly, all ad space is propaganda!

I just didn't realise it was 98% propaganda. After all, it doesn't exactly give the impression they're heading in a greener direction -- rather that they're already there.

Damn fine marketing.

The greenpeace one lost me, however. I suppose Big Green is the mascott of RWE, though. So it makes sense -- They're big, they lie, and they destroyed the world because of it. Just didn't get it out of context. *Defends self*

I had thought that Germany had a rather moderate percentage of all their energy generted from renewable sources? Something in the range of 30%, as an article 2 years ago in Discover lead me to "believe?" (Not that I'm saying RWE represents all German energy corp's.)
