Guns

i don't know. they don't have discount for buying over 10 000 guns. do they have any anthrax rockets? i hope they have nuclear warheads for below 40 million bucks, those bastards in Kiev have been ripping me off  :P

it depends on how you look at it. I have a good friend whos spent close to 2 grand on 2 guitars, an amp and some pedals and he still sucks.

can anybody tell me how can I check out which German soldier/officer had a specific gun issused during the WWII?

I have a gun from WWII and would like to see, using the pistol and barrel number who was the man who carried it?

my grandfather could possibly tell me, but that's out of the question since he passed away some 10 years ago...

Guns...i wish i could start a collection. There are so many classics that i'd love to own. Guns are damn illegal in my country. The closest i can get are guns for sport such as hunting and so on. I don't know to much about the license process over here but i think it will be quite strict.

what country do you come from? sounds a little depressing....
here in the USA guns are allowed to a certan degree...we have the right to bear arms but the damn political @#$@#$ holes have put sertan restrictions on how or where you buy a gun......they(the polititians) have said its for are own good but..........i have a differnt veiw, the people with guns the less crime you have, because lets just say you are a rober  and you are breaking into some ones house when suddenly you have an M-16 in your face, well im shure you get the idea...................

I wouldn't recommend using rifles in urban or suburban homes - your neighbors just might kill you if the bullet goes through your wall, your kitchen wall, neighbor's wall, and his childrens bedroom wall before making a hole in the fridge and stopping there.

*rolls eyes*

You think it sounds depressing when a country has strict gun laws? Sorry, mate, but we Europeans can be very happy without guns.

*doesn't feel like another gun debate, especially not with Tone and Gwydion lurking about*

We don't need guns to compensate for other "problems"

That's pretty hard to do, Miroslav. Usually small unit records weren't preserved, especially not minutiae like weapon assignments, which would have been kept at the company level. Although there are literally millions of pages of documents from the German Army of WWII that have been preserved in the Bundesarchiv in Germany as well as the National Archives in Washington D.C., or their FSU equivalent in Moscow this information is not what the Allies were after. The preserved records deal with operational reports, troop strengths and things of that nature, and then seldom below the battalion level.

Usually the only way to tie a weaon to a soldier is if you have his "Soldbuch" which was a combination pay and service record and also included any personal weapons that were issued to him by type and serial number. Of course, getting data this way is a case of pure, dumb luck, but it's really the only way to do it since there was no centralized database with this sort of information.

Cheers,

OTB

You know Kharn, considering your belief that history repeats, I find it somewhat amazing that you're so fine with gun control.

it depends on what kind of gun you have. if you have a gun powerd by c02 it will probably do some pretty good damage to the eyes or temple area. if you have an old daisy, i suggest gripping the barrel with both hand and clubbing your victim with the platic butt

Honestly, I don't believe a BB gun can kill. The Dude, I'm a bit skeptical that your BB gun can burst through someone's head (but if you prove that it can, then kudos to you).

See, the most harmful BB gun out there are the late-dated ones. I own a Daisy air rifle, modeled after a Winchester western. Its the kind where you can feed a 100+ Copperhead BBs into the chamber but you have to pump the stirrup to compress the air. After several pumps, a BB gun can go through a soda can but not through a human skull, even point blank range.

Other BB guns, like the Classic Army and Tokyo Mauri that are modeled after realistic guns use either gas cartridges or electricity to fire the BBs. This means that the BBs achieve a powerful velocity. However, they can only light plastic BBs that do diddly-squat. You might get a sharp sting but that's about it. A paintball gun hurts more than an AEG (Automatic Electric Gun). I own a Tokyo Mauri Mini-G3 and it barely goes fifteen feet. Additionally, I've used spring-action and gas-action BB guns and they only sting.

So BB guns, both the new ones (AEGs) and the old ones (Daisy air guns) cannot kill. If you're wearing proper equipment, like eye protecters, than you shouldn't have to worry. Of course, there have been some cases were a shot hits the eye and the person dies of hemorhaging without immediate care. But, that's always a fluke.
