Hawking was wrong.

In another 30 years he'll discover that his life was wrong all along, and that he could have gotten out and meet some ladies a bit more often.

And explored sumfin' else than blackholes. Pinkholes, for instance.

Har har.

That was an interesting post, thanks John. At least Hawking is willing to accept his mistakes unlike Einstein.

What the hell?
Einstein claimed at least once that he had been horribly wrong, how is that not willing to accept his mistakes?

Drun'? Drun'?! Ye Wouldn't dare call me drun' If I was sober!

He never admitted quantum theory. He did admit the cosmological constant affair was a mistake (although if you watch it from another perspective, he was right!). The whole God doesn't play dice wasn't his best thinking. I think the only thing we can reproach (sp?) the old man is his desire that physics were deterministic.

You do realise that this makes your entire previous statement pure bullshit? The fact that he didn't believe in quantum theory does not, in fact, mean that he wasn't able to admit his mistakes. It, at the most, means he didn't agree with it.
