Help make a better game for everyone: participate in Fallout Tactics Redux.

A new and major update of my mod Fallout Tactics Redux will be released in a month or less. I'm having trouble with three specific problems, and have decided to give up on all three of these. If anyone would like to participate by helping me with these issues, you'll have the gratitude of the entire community and will get credit in my mod's documentation. The mod will be released with or without these three things, but would be better with them. The catch is, as I said, the update will be released very soon, so you'll have to work fast if you'd like to lend a hand.

My three problems are:

a) I want to add an article explaining Reaver society and religion, since these don't make much sense. This would benefit all players, and would also tie in with an npc (Paladin Mathers) I added last time in Bunker Four whose story is that she's a spy researching the Reavers. Yet I can't think of anything interesting to write about the subject. There's an article on fallout.wikia, but it merely regurgitates (albeit in a clever way) everything already found in the game rather than offering insights and new information. If anyone would like to write a pseudo-scholarly article on the Reavers, I could make immediate use of such.

b) I have a lot of text articles available at terminals in the bunkers, and I wanted to add some multimedia as well. Audio files (wav, mp3) are no problem for me, but I tried to make bik movies of some public domain 1950s civil-defense shorts and couldn't get the Rad Game Tools to work right. For example, this movie. The source movies in avi format were fine, but after binking all I had was audio with no video. If anyone knows how to work Rad Game Tools, any help would be appreciated.

c) I can't make sprites. There's no use explaining it to me, recommending programs, etc. A man has to know his limitations; I've wasted a crazy amount of time on this issue over the years and I have to conclude it's a lost cause for me. I don't own Photoshop, and freeware alternatives (GIMP) can't output in the correct format. I don't understand alpha channels, palettes, or obscure format specifications like raw and 32 bit bmp, and the truth is I'm not very interested in being initiated into any of these mysterious rites. Anyway, I have some artwork already made (sized, 256 colors, etc) for eleven inventory item sprites, and if anyone able to utilize this to make some actual working sprites would like to assist then any help would be much appreciated. As there aren't very many items, it probably wouldn't take more than an hour or two for someone who knows what they're doing.

Feel free to contact me via PM or reply right here if you'd like to be a part of Fallout Tactics Redux by pitching in on any of these three issues.

I can make your sprites soon with pleasure, and maybe use them in my mod too if they fit well. It is possible I already have the kind of sprites you are looking for, because I made a lot of misc sprites already. You have big .png of the items you want with already the transparency you'd like to see ingame? If not, that is not really a problem, I can also arrange that. Just send me everything at hugo@hugonadeau.com or put a link here.

As for the movies, I tested some videos before and that worked. It may just be a matter of what kind of file and file specifications you used as the original file (specially frame rate that may be the source of your problem). I know that only 800x600 videos can be played in Tactics with probably 24 or 29,97 image per second for the frame rate. Also, you can setup your videos in the triggers before finalise all the videos, because the game will not crash if no video is available. It will just continue the script and display nothing.

Hmm... yeah, got some ideas for your Reavers' history project. All mine, no one else touchy.

Sending PM

Thanks, guys. The help is much appreciated.

On the movies, I couldn't even get to looking at them in game. The Rad Tools wasn't converting the avi clips properly, it recorded blank video even though the audio was fine. I looked over all the conversion settings carefully, and have no idea what could have been happening there. I didn't know about the 800x600 stipulation, though, so that's good to know for future reference.

nice...Beavers history project...

I don't know much about reavers i know them to be a technocracy who are venerating tech gods like Stansoft or something like that.Anyways i finished them all in the one mission with the robo parts.

As about problem c, i have that problem like you.It won't let me creating sprites.
