Help with a post-apocalyptic costume

I'm going to a "Bike Prom" which is basically a party for people that ride bikes, I swear it isn't as lame as that sounds. but in the USA or at least DC riding bikes regularly makes you part of a subculture. Costumes are highly encouraged and the theme is "Beyond Velodrome" (think Beyond Thunderdome). I'm planning on doing something of a Fallout Raider so does anyone have suggestions on clothing/armor that would be comfortable enough to ride a bicycle while wearing?

You could try a cheap leather jacket from a consignment shop and then do it up like a raider would.

Add parts of old ATV or car tires to the shoulders, Maybe get some metal attachments from Axlesarmoury.com (though now his site seems to be down)

For pants, try some old jeans and then sew in all sorts of replacment patches or maybe get some leather pants and sew patches over top of all the places the pants would wear (knees, inside of the leg, ankles etc)
