It seems the hexagon has started to appear again here and there, and below yet again.
The reason why I post this is that I cannot figure out how I could align a square grid so that it matches a set of hexagons appropriately. Think texture tiles (i.e. square). The red square was just to illustrate one way of doing it. I have no idea if it's good though.
In fallout they have done nicely but it's kind of a perspective dependent solution that does not really work here. Thoughts?
This is the equivalent of the Fallout tile minus squeezing. Still too big? Or is it a constraint that the axes of hex grid and tile grid cannot be rotated from what you have now?
Am I tired or isn't that the same as the left red box in the last picture of my previous post? The ideal situation would be to have the same width and height for textures. That's why I haven't gone for that solution just yet.
I'm thinking about this solution since my logic is exactly this but renders hexagons at the moment. Do I really need hexagons? :v Time will tell.
Err... yes... but smartly rotated, and with a picture of boxbot, showing off that anything is possible at zombo.com.
It's hard to say which square format is the best without knowing what you want from it. Unless people who make texture tiles need to know that certain parts of them fall nicely in or between hexes, it all seems a bit arbitrary.
