You might want to read the Terms of Service (TOS), unfortunately you won't be able to host sub-sites, use your space for different domain names, etc.

Also, "unlimited space" is deceiving. What they mean by "unlimited space" is that you can have all the space you need for the basic web site, i.e. images, HTML files, SWF, etc. but they have a limit of 25 megs of archive space for files like mp3s, AVIs, zips, etc. Read this little section:

"Note: You are not permitted to have any software, fixes, patches or electronic media for download on your site. We reserve the right - at any time, to terminate service if we find that you have violated this term. Additionally, should you be found to be in violation of any licensing agreements currently in place, we reserve the right to permanently terminate your service without refund. In English - no download sites."

There's a reason that place is cheap, and that's because what they *do* allow would never exceed their bandwidth/space limitations.

I'd suggest going with www.csoft.net/ They are reasonably priced and offer a lot more freedom. They don't like stuff like IRC bots, etc. but that's understandable. With plans that are $25+ you get unlimited space, and with all plans, unlimited bandwidth.

Also they provide shell access, FTP, subdomaining, etc.

NO, they do NOT have unlimited bandwidth. They charge a LOT for anything over 30GB a month (which isn't much, trust me). This site would rack up unbelievable traffic surcharge.

Plus, another reason I would STRONGLY advise people to not use csoft is because their hosting servers go down more times than Jenna Jameson. In other words, they suck some hard cock. Their tech dept is a joke, and they don't monitor the servers worth a damn. Sometimes the servers could be down for three days at a time until someone needs to gripe so that the techs can figure out that the server needs to be rebooted.

In other words, a shitty host.

30GB is SMALL for a site. I've surpassed that on a couple of my sites. This site would probably be about 90+GB a month.

Yes, I've heard stuff about their tech department too.. they only respond via email if at all.

As for the bandwidth limit, 30GB? I didn't realize it was that low...

I've been looking around and while 30GB is relatively small it is quite a bit considering the lackluster transfer/month provided by other services for more.. some as low as 14GB/month with $100+ plans.

hell, I just analyzed one log... take a look at this info:

13 gigs for a week! that mean almost 60megs per month... 30 above limit, $5 per Gb, that means I would have to pay $150 per month for hosting! screw them :)

I'm afraid that you might need to find a game hosting site to host your site. I've been looking around, and 30GB/month is actually at the *high-end* of the transfer spectrum. Yeah it sounds pretty pathetic, but I haven't seen any rates above that.

Maybe try talking to other game website hosting companies to see if you can tranfer to them because they don't make money off the hosting but rather the advertisements. But you already knew that right?

Yeah, the only companies willing to give you unlimited transfer are those companies that don't make money off hosting...

Too bad your site is just too damned popular... :)

Unlimited sounds great if you have the $30 a month.

I'm thinking of doing an Unlimited account, as csoft is a piece of shit for my uses right now. Unreliable, and costs too much.

The Unlimited sounds great, and I would strongly recommend that host of anything.
