Hey Teatime, where did DAC go?

I just hit that jj hosting thing too. A while back teatime was asking for donations to keep the domain, hope DAC disappearing doesn't have something to do with that. Hey Mr. Teatime, care to shed some light?

They were kicked for having the fallout patches in the server, wich was in violation of...something. They`ll get back but need a new host.

Don't tell me, another April Fool's joke! Good one!!!

Maybe a bit extreme, whacking your own site, but funny none the less.

:)

We have the wiki and the db, as well as all the site code and content (or at least we're getting it now. Technically they've pulled us but my understanding is that even then, by law we're still allowed access to our content to move it). We're moving to sorcerers.net because they're not stupid.

Here is The E-mail™ which they oddly enough sent to me in response to a query I had with the database - just one of many problems we ended up having with them. All of which will be explained in our article: #27 Reasons why JJTek Hosting Sucks. :)

Hello,

You have been breaking our terms and conditions by using your site for file distribution.

We need your agreement that you will remove all the copyrighted material from your site. This includes all the video files (the Hitchhiker's movie trailer, everything in /downloads/trailers, etc.), and everything in /downloads/patches.
Once you have agreed to remove them the account will be re-enabled.

Note that the question is not having files available for download, it's specifically that the patches and movie trailers are copyright content and that we are infringing copyright but having them on our site for distribution.

Enlightened people these guys.... Trailers and Paches..... the two things wich are amongst the things that are supposed to be distributed...

If I remember about these guys... Last time I saw they were offering "unlimited bandwidth" which is always a warning sign for a webhost.

If they were to allow file distribution to popular websites and offer unlimited bandwidth then they'd just crumble over and die.

I'm not sure if this is the case with you guys though and I may be thinking of somewhere else :P

We're moving to sorcerers again. It's all been an interesting experience in spotting bad and good webhosts. Taluntain is a good host. JJTek is a bad one.

We do have backups but not sure how much we actualy have as due to another host bug, we couldn't make a complete db backup. However, we WILL be back, and the wiki is safe, don't worry. I've just got to get the FTP access sorted out as we can't get on to the server to transfer stuff at the moment. I've sent them an email and I'm sure there's some legal stuff involved if they deny us access to our content (not that we have any money or inclination to sue...), so hopefully things will be better soon.

On the positive side, the domain name switch has propagated for me, so now you get a nice placeholder message :)

As for DAC's frontpage, there are plans for a redesign, as there always are, but it's a question of getting it to work well and so on. If anyone wants to design some graphics and send them to us with a concpet of how they'd fit together, feel free to (though whilst DAC is down, my email is mr_teatime007@hotmail.com). I and others can do the HTML stuff, it's just I suck at graphics.

We've already got some neat stuff pretty much ready to go. It's just a matter of integrating the code at this point. But, as Teatime said, any concepts people have in mind would be cool. The more the merrier, eh?

I thought you guys were going with the layout that MadMax did, that one was real cool.
