IGN thinks Dead Money is unforgivably buggy

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
IGN put up a Dead Money review. It awards the add-on a 6.5/10. Here's a snippet:
One of the characters suffers from a split-personality and I apparently chose to recruit the wrong one. Subsequently all quest lines broke, but I didn't realize it until I had already completed everything and wasn't given any new missions. I had to restart the whole game, which flat-out sucked.

I know Bethesda and Obsidian are infamous for making games with lots of bugs, but I was really shocked that this DLC is so easily broken. I didn't make some crazy decision wearing a strange costume in an unforeseen area, it was something the game offered to me and yet it halted my progression. That's unacceptable.
So, for those that already have the add-on, do you agree?

bethesda does the QA to ensure that the product matches their "level of quality" they require.

question is, does that say more about beth or obsidian.

Lots of people actually believe Bethesda makes quality games after the Morrowind era so Obsidian gets 100% of the blame

I'd default towards "it's the publisher's fault" normally, but since Obsidian has a history of broken games and poor scope management... that said, IGN is really the only place where I've heard complaints about Dead Money as far as bugs go.

The game tells you how to switch. Multiple times it does.

Comprehension is hard. :P

So yeah, the reviewer probably didn't pay any attention to the dialog. Can't explain it any other way.

Yeah, I think the reviewer missed out a simple game mechanic that is explained by the character she was complaining about, and can be brought up again through conversation at anytime.

Half the fucking complaints about Dead Money are people being too stupid to listen to directions.

EDIT: For me, it crashed once, and using the pump-action shotgun in VATS causes it to endlessly reload, forcing me to load an autosave. Oh, and I got the maximum jackpot on the slots (you know, three oranges in a row) by getting Orange, Orange, and a Bar. But I'm nor complaining about that one.

It's because with Fallout 3 you could complete most the conversations by randomly clicking options and not reading what was being said, but with Dead Money they've actually put time and effort into the dialogue, so it helps a lot if you pay attention to what you are doing.

This DLC has two themes. Rushing into things is stupid, and learn to let go. Apparently, judging by posts on other forums, they learned neither. I'll elaborate below.

(Spoilers for people who aren't yet finished. Feel free to read, PC and PS3 bros)

[spoiler:46a6eae30a]At the end, when you break into the Sierra Madre Vault, there's a terminal at the end of the room. There's a letter to Vera, the creator of the Sierra Madre's girlfriend. Reading it reveals that he knew that Vera and Dean Domino were going to steal from his Vault, and that reading his personal accounts would cause the Vault to seal itself, trapping Dean inside if he came to rob it. Vera, however, would be safe inside and have plenty of supplies if a nuclear war occured.

However, people being the idiots they are, they skip this letter and seal themselves in by reading the Accounts, resulting in their character dying. Also, in the Vault there are multiple gold bars. They are worth 10,000 in caps, but weigh 35 pounds each. People complain that they can't get them all, despite the fact it's kind of the point.[/spoiler:46a6eae30a]

This is what I thought when I read the article too.

[spoiler:9704461217] I've played through it twice now with two different characters and have never had a problem with the "Dog"/"God" switch over. The person who wrote this article clearly didn't understand the voice command system.[/spoiler:9704461217]

Actions don't have consequences, Duh! Why would anyone make something as retarded as that!?

Fallout 4 should be a series of quick time events to ensure high scores from IGN.

Put it this way, I download it, and it freezes right at the start. It's unplayable. No fix or sign of a fix yet. money down the drain.

You got it for the Xbox and it doesn't work?

Honestly, I didn't notice one bug. It froze on me once but it was refreshingly free from script bugs and it didn't destroy saves like some F3 Dlc's.

His issue seems to be very specific and I'm really wondering too since its the first time I've heard about it. Could be just as easy the same freezing problem as in the main game.

Edit; Seens Biosa has the answer

Our guy at planet Fallout doing a review of the DLC has a few warnings:
Playing the Dead Money DLC? Then there are a few things you'll need to know. First and foremost are these handy instructions on how to load the DLC. You WILL need to have your game fully updated, and you'll need to use a save prior to the game's last quest, or else you won't be able to trigger the quest line.

Next up is news that some quest items (Loyal's Detonator, Michaelangelo's Camera, Motor Runner's Helmet, Boone's Beret) will break the opening sequence. So if you have them, don't wear them. Once you're in the Sierra Madre villa, it is safe to use them.

Finally, some users are reporting a bug that results in ED-E either becoming hostile or not appearing at all after completing Dead Money, so be aware of this if ED-E is carrying anything of value to you.

Why is it that people seem to use "bug" as a synonym for "I'm too fucking stupid to understand the game mechanics and story" these days? I want to acquaint that IGN "editor's" balls with a cinder block.

Apparently she knew about the switch but didn't work anyway. Or maybe she is saying that just to cover her ass.

"I'd like to clarify one thing since I've received a few emails about it:

I do know that you can switch back and forth between the two personalities of one of the characters, but it didn't matter. Recruiting the "wrong" one didn't just break that quest line, it also broke the other two after that. When I realized this I immediately switched to the "correct" one hoping that would remedy the situation, but it didn't help anything."
