Inside the Vault - Dane Olds

Another Inside the Vault with the well-be-bearded-if-not-grizzly Dane Olds, a man who has played Fallout but certainly won't be asked about here. News at 11.
What is the best part about working as an artist? The worst part?
The best part about being an artist for me is seeing my artwork in a game. I love figuring out how objects work, I love the creative process, and I love seeing an idea turn into a piece of art, but at the end of the day seeing my hard work on screen makes everything worth the effort. The worst part about being an artist for me is seeing your work cut from a game. As an artist your work will get cut at some point. Even though it’s for the greater good, to see something you’ve toiled over for hours go into the trash can is always difficult.
Link: Inside the Vault - Dane Olds.

And now here are the highlights of Bethesda's Buzzwords™ and catchphrases:
The best part about being an artist for me is seeing my artwork in a game. Even though it’s for the greater good, to see something you’ve toiled [sic]* over for hours go into the trash can is always difficult.
*he meant toilet.

It's almost annoying... :lalala:

He played Fallout, you're probably thinking of someone else:
Dane Olds, Artist
My favorite moment from Fallout was when I discovered the sheer destructive power of grenades. I got into a fight with some bandits and was in way over my head. I desperately checked my inventory for anything I could use to settle the score and discovered I had one frag grenade. I chucked it into the group of bandits and watched the carnage unfold. Unfortunately I was too close to the blast and just survived by the skin of my teeth. The bandits weren’t so lucky though, and I was rewarded with a nice shiny new suit of metal armor.

I wasn't thinking of anyone, I'm just trying to find more creative ways to indicate The Missing Question.

1) Lists MM7, Fallout and Arcanum among favorites.
2) Admits to liking Death Metal.
3) Cool beard.

This guy is good in my books.

I agree, from what he's said there he has some good tastes.

Though I wonder what he's actually done in the game, mostly thinking about buildings and such though, don't know what "artist" really envolpes, if it's characters or such aswell or just random objects that gets assigned to him.
I know FA about how the "chain of command" works in game development, or how much freedom he has while working.

He sounds like another good artist stuck in a project mired with a poor sense of vision.

Sadly, yes. An unbelievably frustrating experience.
