Intelligence vs. luck

Grasshopper

First time out of the vault
Hi all, I am playing this game again after 4 years. I've loaded Killap's patch for Fallout2 and am ready to go. I am down to that last stat point and where to put it. I can have either an 8 luck or 8 intelligence. I know that an 8 luck will be killer at level 24 for a 95% modifier on sniper, but is it worth giving up the skill points? And no, I will never use small frame again. Small frame turns the game into how to steal and barter with NPCs. Also it gives up way to much once you get to St 10.

Thanks Brother. I was just going to try to make an end game sniper. I seem to remember playing a very high intelligence last time and ending up with too many skill points. With a luck at 10, you get the 95% on sniper, vs. 90% at luck 9. You actually lose 5% since the max is 95. I guess this is not too big a deal. So I am going with 5,7,4,6,8,10,7 with gifted and no other perks. Thanks for helping me make up my mind. (and I want to play a 6 charisma this time to see what its like).

Remember, you can get +2 or -2 Luck in NCR by asking the hubologist for a "zeta-scan". Save first if you try this, as you could get either modifier.

Yup. I haved planned for the +2 luck, + 1 Int, + 5 St and + 1 Pe. I have never taken luck to +10 though. I wanna try, but I can never make myself put 8 in at the start. I've heard with the sniper perk that 99% of all aimed shots lead to instant/ or near death. Since sniper, like in fallout 1 is too far down the road, I havent done this. Next time around Im going full on luck.

10 Luck + Sniper makes every shot a critical, as far as I can tell. I can't remember getting a non-critical hit, at least.

1 Luck + Jinxed + Rough combat setting + big guns/energy weapons = loads of fun. One of the most amusing things I've seen was getting lit on fire by my own exploding flamer.
