Introducing the Remstream 8100/R - The Ferrari Red Cable Mod

Maphusio

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Well a new cable modem manufacturer has come into the fold to produce a more "FAST" cable modem.

The Remstream 8100/R ... I want to buy one even though I have DSL. You will see these on the market soon enough. It looks like my work might be selling these via ebay soon enough.

When my work does end up selling these on-line. I'll bump with a link... that is assuming anyone else out there thinks these modems are that cool.

Well I have cable for 2 years now and my modem is sweet and fast and does the job really well...
Also, what kind of 'work' is there where you sell shit over eBay?

I work for an ISP in Washington state. From what I can tell we are one of the few authorized retailers and do not sell hardware like this via our website. It is normally something that is purchased when setting up internet service.

Due to the rare and unique qualities of this modem, it would most likely sell well given any venue. Ebay is a very simple, easy high traffic option. Why create a store front from the ground up?

Note: I don't appreciate your the tone of your post.

Well a new cable modem manufacturer has come into the fold. Some of the folks at Toshiba got together to produce a more "FAST" cable modem.
Toshiba have made quite a lot of modems. How is this one supposed to be better?

So basically what you're doing is spamming us with advertising for your workplace?

And the bonus question: If the speed is limited by my ISP and I reach that speed with my current modem, why the hell would I need a supposedly faster modem?

Oh this modem is not necessarily better than the next guy. It's the color, up until now cable modems have been pretty darn bland. Note that this is technically not Toshiba. Some folks left Toshiba to start their own company.

Does it come in different colors? I can't imagine that pinkish-red would match very many cases.

The photo does not reflect its color that well I suppose. In person, its a deeper red. It comes in red and boring black. I'm thinking about suggesting they go for piano black as that would be awesome.

...Yes, I'm "spamming" you with advertising... Wait a tink?! Isn't this is the gaming and hardware forum!?

As for the bonus question... You misunderstood my post and I apologize for not making that abundantly clear. When I put the word "fast" in italics I intended for a play on the word in regards to its color. Sort of like those kids that drive Honda's with the stickers that add to the horsepower of their car.

If you are pleased with your cable modems performance, keep it. If you were looking for aesthetics (like me), then this is exciting.

Better don't say that, or he'll refuse to appreciate the tone of your post. lol

Yeah, hah, lol... You're such a noob.

Are we going to have a tech argument of some kind?

So ehm, what's so special about this thing?

Its RED! If it sells well there may be other 1337 colors and custom cable modem cases may be in order. After having thousands upon thousands of bland cable modems cross my hands, to see this...

It's Pink... there is no way I'm having a PINK modem, that's like having a Barbie computer for crissakes.

Give me Chrome, or some design style but for the love of Pete don't make it PINK!

Ugh...

Are there any ACTUAL functional differences in the chipset that make it better than your average rented cable modem or is it purely for the fashion trendy surfers of the world?

ASUS Wl-500g premium.

My wireless can beat your wireless up.

The design reminds me of the German Democratic Republic.

Yes. It has a tacky 60's, 70's look to it reminiscent of commie years. It reminds me of a plastic living room chair from that era.
