Is anyone else excited for Fallout 4?

First time out of the vault
While I don't think the dialogue option change was exactly for the best, I still believe my expectations were greatly exceeded. I'm stoked for it. What about you?

I was really excited at first, while watching the E3 presentation, but the more I thought about it all the less excited I was afterwards. It all seems very shallow and showy so far, with not much depth to it. And the fact that you get a Power Armor and a fight 1 vs 1 against a deathclaw almost right off the bat really grinds my gears.

I fear Fallout 4 will be more like Fallout 3 and that was not exactly the highlight of the series in my opinion.
Yes, it looks better than Fallout 3 and I am not really obsessed with having latest state of the art graphics in a game but if the content like the storyline, NPCs, dialogue, quests, factions and so on turn out to be very average then I think this title will still be a waste of the Fallout IP.

This game looks to much like an FPS like Halo, Gears of War, and Titanfall, even more so than its predecessor and I fear the gameplay will be badly affected by it.

Bethesda makes games that are unquestionably fun. They are essentially theme parks dedicated to telling the player how awesome he or she is through a variety of different activities. There is usually not a whole lot to them beyond that though, and I want more than that for a Fallout game (I don't really even think I want a Fallout game to tell me how the wastes look upon my works and despairs).

So I don't doubt that I will enjoy Fallout 4 when it comes out. But I strongly suspect it will be more like Fo3 or Skyrim than New Vegas, so I will be content to wait for the complete edition to go on sale.

Yeah, fairly so. It has promise. Yeah, it's dumbed down in places but even the most unpleasant of gameplay features can sometimes work well and you never know.

I fear that all the REALLY awesome aspects of FO4... will merely be skin deep. For instance, their interpretation of Power Armor showcasing it as a mini-tank, human-sized mech of sorts. That was REALLY cool. But, so what? That's not really what's so awesome about Fallout, after all. I won't have anything against that, and I'm sure I will love it just as much as I loved seeing it in the footage. But that's not a major aspect of the game. That would be like saying getting rads by eating irradiated food and thus having to weigh your options of taking in rads or starving was a really cool feature of FO3... cause on the surface, it seemed great, but upon closer inspection, it was nothing noteworthy and in the face of all of the game's issues, it was a spec in the wind.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as PossibleCabbage. I am excited because I see Fallout 4 as The Sims with guns, as most of the new things that I find to be of interest (I'm not crazy about graphics and cutscenes, voices and what not) are related to building settlements and such. I love The Sims, I play it from time to time. It is not Fallout, and I don't like it as much as I like Fallout, and I don't like it for the same reasons. In that sense, I think Fallout 4 will be extremely disappointing, as a Fallout. As a The Sims variant, though, I believe I'll have a lot of fun playing it once from time to time, if I do play it.

It won't be a Sims variant as much as a Rust or H1Z1 variant. Yeah, the community you build will be populated by NPCs instead of other players, but the fact that you scavenge for it and manage it from the FPS perspective always reminded me of those zombie building games more than any Sims games. I got a real Sims "vibe" out of Banished, but the reasons should be obvious, when you look at the game.
