I don't know about all this SA stuff,
But on the topic of whether or not it is unfair to get viscerally upset without having seen etc...
First off: I used to lurk here occasionally and look down on you guys, thinking you just couldn't stand change and mentally comparing your reactions to my Grandfather's reaction to "those damn computer things." But don't jump to conclusions, read on.
The last RPG I had played when I read about FO3 was Oblivion, which was decently fun for me, and lead me to be excited to hear about FO3. So I decided to go back and play FO1 and 2 in preparation, as it had been a few years since I played them last. I am currently playing them, and the more I play, the less I look forward to FO3, and the more I grow to empathize with what I used to think of as whining on this board. They may or may not be making a fun game, but they are NOT making FO3. I have played the FO games many times over the years, and yet I have not been so glued to any game as I am now since... I imagine last time I played them. As I rediscover the amazing experience that is FO, I realize that it simply cannot be recreated in the game Bethesda is making.
I cannot decide if this is salient information in the context of this post, for the intrinsic reasons that will soon be revealed, but here it goes. I feel that it should be noted that I obtained a head injury in 2004 resulting in a pretty decent case of amnesia. The end result is that I remembered THAT I played FO many times, and THAT I loved it, but I did not remember actually PLAYING it, or any details about it.
This is why replaying the game has been so especially transformative to my opinion of FO3.
So, anyway, apologies for my silent judgement, and sign me up to be a pessimist (contract not to expire at least until release).
