Last Hope mod

Fallout 2 mod Last Hope mod v1.087

Hello everyone!

I've been going through the posts but I didn't actually find an answer.
I'm playing on the latest 1.087 and I got stuck in the prison after being late to report back.
I am in this cell and I managed to climb down and kill all the radscorpions to get the explosives.
- I am not able to break the force field using science (0% chance)
- I can get out of there by using explosives, which turns the field down for a bit
If I use explosives and go back to talk to administrator he simply throws me back to the cell.
If I use explosives and simply break out of the jail I'm having troubles as a convict (for example in Philton guards start to shoot at me).

What is the proper solution for getting out of the prison in my case?
I don't want to load the game from several hours back. I actually reported back to the prison
few times now to get myself a little bit more time. This time however I decided to go to Golden Valley
and I've been there questing for several hours. After getting back to Prison there is no way I make this in time. :/

Hi Nice to have a Youtuber from a longplay gaming channel here in this thread, *tips fedora*

Anyways in your case there are only two solutions:
#1 as you said load from earlier save ( from before you went to GV
#2 save edit a file from just before asking the warden for more time/ reporting back, and editing the coresponding gvar
there are two eactly one is the tick nimber ( a very long number) of the game counting from the beginning of the game and snapshotted when you last talked to the warden, and the other one is the last tick you are able to talk to warden so that he does not throw you into jail..
Your best bet is to take Vad's f12se editor and copy the game tick from the main page of your savegame and paste it onto the correct field in the warden deadline GVAR, and tweak it a bit a.k.a make the number a bit higher.. remember each game tick is 1/10 of a ingame second..

lastly in order to get to golden valley and back within 4 months:

there are two possible reasons You're not able to do it:

#1either you abuse the sfall spedhack feature ( it just compresses time passing) so the faster the dude runs thanks to speedhack the faster the time passes, and it affects the worldmap as well the max is 10x time compresion. so instead of ~ a one month + for travel from prison to GV it'd ake you 10+ months.

#2 you sumply have sfall set inadequately to your rig capabilities.. Fallout 2 engine has worldmap speed based on CPU speed by default, without any sfall hacks you'd be running with lightspeed via worldmap, yet time passes propotionally to travel speed in game, so you need to tweak sfall via ddraw.ini variables to properly set those proprtions, i forgot the names of those variables, yet everything should be precisely described in there, so it's just a matter of plowing through the settings and adjust ing them..
I use c2q9650 CPU and the default settings seem fine for me. yet You most likely use something waaaay faster than my potato, You'd have to trial and error.. just make sure the travel time doesn't take more than 1,8 months in one direction from edge to the edge of the worldmap, and try to avoid speedhack or at least disable it when going to the worldmap..
and that's it..

Anyways time for a little self advertisement:

if you want Your Fallout 2 or a TC mod to have decent quality CGI video and not just a pixelated mess have a look at my HD upscale thread..
So far I've covered:
Fo2
Fo:EtTu a.k.a Fo1inFo2
Fo:1,5Resurrection
Fo:Sonora
Fo:Last Hope
Fo:Yesterday ( work in progress partially done)
......................

Fo:Nevada is on hold until we get a more manly english voice over than a Russian teenager during voice mutation roleplaying to be Ron Perlman..

anyways i never heard any serious complains on my work on this matter, so you should give those vids a try..

Gee, have I been recognised, or you just looked me up real quick? ;)

I think it would not take that much time to redo it all over again, since I already know what to do. I can simply fly through dialogs basically.
I don't want to mess with global variables, I might break smth up only to realise it in the future.

But just to be on the same page - is being placed in a jail a one-way ticket?
If so, why doesn't it simply trigger a game over screen? I don't think it's great UX having a possibility
to actually try escaping but not being able to at the end.
Also, since I have your attention now - I think smth not yes *wink* with my car.
I did buy it following a casual conversation with trader in Canville. It got parked like it should have been parked.
I got my keys, I can use the trunk, everything works fine except for driving it.
It follows me wherever I go, but there is no indicator of me driving a car in world map.
No car icon, no speed improvement, no nothing.
Fuel doesn't decrease as well.

What did I break this time?

PS: Yes, I did start the car using my keys :D

PS2: Me not being able to travel to from prison to GV and back is not a bug. Before going to GV I travelled to Philton and Canville. I didn't realise how much time it would actually take to get back straight to prison after this. Nothing broken then, it's just me not being careful enough.

actually You have been recognized i sometimes do a youtube plowthroughs for youtubers with complete longplays of Classic Fallout TCs..

I won't give any ratings as Homie language for Fallout is rather meh, it sort of breaks all the immersion when it's not english, but don't worry i've seen worse.. for example that Krwawy Joe psycho dude that is literally acting like an aggressive idiot over his dude fighting with a rat, he got owned by the 3rd rat in a row, because he didn't apply the initial hit&run tactics just face tanked the rats and died like an idiot..

haven't really paid attention to Your videos yet, as every playthrough I've noticed at that time was in early stages of the given games..

as for Last Hope.. Yes getting Jailed is indeed a one way ticket, this one-way-dead-end is a theme throughout the game, so if you're not carefull you can fuck up things without even noticing.. well.. that's what earlier savegames are for right?
why not simply trigger the game over? i'd like to know as well, yet i'm not the mod's developer.. go ask Forgotten Knight a.k.a mod author about that..

define: "smth not yes *wink* with my car".. if by not-yes you mean "coś-nie-tak" You should use the proper english term "smth-not-right", and avoid the onion..

as for your description the car runs as intended.. the Modder that made this TC is doing it for a long period of time, however he haven't ate all the brains of every genious Fo2 coder out there, he barely got time to work on the project for an hour or two once every two weeks, so cut him some slack man, He knows it's not 1:1 like in fo2 but he did it the best he could, henc the car is a shopping cart on an autopilot, as for the fuel consumption, just sleep 4 a week in town ( like in philton for another donson quest) with the engine gone, and you should notice fuel dropping.. it was limited a bit because weaksauce players were complaining they can't afford the cells at such consumption rate..

no it's not a bug to not fit in the time limit.. rather too modern hardware.. fallout was designed with PII 200Mhz CPU in mind and nowadays the CPUs.. You get the idea? as i said some engine features are tied to CPU clock for example worldmap travel speed..
there are settings in sfall to circumvent that like making it less dependant on CPU and the second one is a percentage value of the orignal mechanics by defauls it's set to ~66%, perhaps with your OP streamrecording station you need to lower that percentage further.. in order to fit the worldmap travel time passing to what it's sepose to be a.k.a ~1 month from west to east.. this is not a bug it's how black isle designed the Fo2 engine at the time to be dependant on CPU cycle speed to determine worldmap travel speed and combine the travel rate with time passed, so if you have inanely fast CPU you'd have lightning speed of travel and time passing insanely fast, or otherwise Like Einstein said Time is relative but in case of Fo2 it's relative not to weight but to CPU speed and it's a direct relation not inverse one like in relativety theory..
