From time to time i enjoy a riddle or a puzzle that requires lateral thinking. Many are just silly, so its hard to find a solid one that is also humerous.
Im going to throw in the 1st puzzle with some hints. I found it in a old Portuguese book, so its loosely translated, here it goes:
In the beginning of the First World War, the British soldiers wear a brown rugged cloth hat.
With the progression of war, the authorities of the army became alarmed with the high percentage of soldiers with head injuries. So they decided to replace the rugged cloth hats with metal helmets.
The Department of War became suprised when the new report arrived with an increased percentage of head injuries.
How could the percentage of head injuries rise with the use of metal helmets?
Hints:
[spoiler:d3439ae807]The man wear their helmets? Yes[/spoiler:d3439ae807]
[spoiler:d3439ae807]When they started wearing the metal helmets the head injuries rised? Yes[/spoiler:d3439ae807]
[spoiler:d3439ae807]But despite that were the helmets kept? Yes[/spoiler:d3439ae807]
[spoiler:d3439ae807]Did they have any advantage? Yes[/spoiler:d3439ae807]
Solution
[spoiler:d3439ae807]The number of head injuries increased but the mortality rate decrased. Before, if a soldier was hit in the head by a grenade fragment, for instance, this would have penetrated the hat and probably killed him. That would have been reported as death and not head injury.[/spoiler:d3439ae807][/b]
