[spoiler:eeddb4febb]The bottom of the tracks should be gripping the ground at all times, and thus do not really move at all. From the moment they touch the ground, assuming traction is good, they should remain planted until raised up off the ground and subsequently re-layed again. I think you'd measure track or even wheel speed in RPMs, not MPH. The tracks move in relation to the tank, not the ground.[/spoiler:eeddb4febb]

I'm going to be frank though, I was thinking more obliquely than laterally there. And I'm speaking completely out of my ass.

Relatively to the tank (or the axis of the wheels, if you will), i'd say 60 mph :)

I suppose that's the reason most people would give the wrong answer without giving it a second thought : you tend to imagine the movement relatively to the tank and not to the ground.

"One morning a hunter departed from his camp and walked south for a mile. There he saw a bear which he followed precisely for 1 mile to west where he shot the bear. Then the hunter dragged the bear for another mile north, arriving at his camp. What was the colour of the bear?"

An old Arabic puzzle (the puzzles are in portuguese, they are not portuguese, sorry victor):
"A hunter found two sheppards, one had 3 breads and the other 5. All were equal. The 3 men agreed to share all the breads equally. After the meal the hunter gave the sheppards 8 bronze coins as payment. How should the two sheppards divide the reward?"

[spoiler:e6bc6c13a5]White, this can only happen on one of the poles[/spoiler:e6bc6c13a5]

[spoiler:e6bc6c13a5]The shepherd with 5 breads should get 7 coins, the one with 3 should get 1 coin. Because each of the three men ate 2 2/3 of a bread, meaning that the man with 3 breads only gave up 1/3 bread and the man with 5 gave up 2 1/3 bread. [/spoiler:e6bc6c13a5]

I'm surprised no one has posted ye old "BUT WHO WAS PHONE" yet.

Old question, true story.

There was a forest fire.

They were scooping up water in a lake with big water buckets/tanks with helicopters and he happened to get caught by it while scuba diving. They dumped the water on the fire without realizing it and he was found dead on a tree.

Er... isn't the "Audience" supposed to come up with the yes/no questions and the host has to answer? Why are you giving the questions and answers along with the riddle?

You got it

meh playing you with you is ... ok letz do one that is maybe more difficiult.

Wanda is dead on the floor. A broken window. Water on the floor.

What happend ?

wrooooooooooong!

Not really. It's not like scuba divers are prohibited to hike in their free time. The riddle doesn't say that he was wearing his gear. :P

That said I suck at these sorts of riddles.

[spoiler:fcf07fbf1f]Some kid hit a baseball (or some crazy flying object) into his neighbors window. Knocking over the fishbowl containing a Fish Called Wanda.[/spoiler:fcf07fbf1f]
I don't know the difference between thinking laterally, obliquely, vertically, or diagonally. I suppose the connection between all of these puzzles is that you are supposed to see past the absurdities with how the information is presented and determine what actually happened or somehow figure out a "thinking outside the box" intuitive solution.

Here's an even more ridiculous puzzler for you: You are trapped inside of room made of completely indestructible material with neither door nor window nor ventilation shaft. All that is with you in the room is a mirror and a table. How do you get out of the room?

[spoiler:90a8ac6083]I would just step through the door opening, seeing the door itself is missing.[/spoiler:90a8ac6083]
