Left 4 Dead

Von Drunky

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Hey guys,

I'm pretty much done with Fallout 3 for the 2nd play througth and I want to wait for GTA IV to get patched up before buying a copy.

Anyway, a friend brought up Left 4 Dead the Co-op zombie game. Its looks pretty cool and we are considering buying the game so we can all play togther. AI is different in each game so its suppose to be really additive with a high replay value. To the best of my knowledge there was a demo but it was removed shortly after the game was released (if i'm wrong please link me). Anyone here play this yet or are interested in the game?

I suck at spelling, everyone knows that. my guess would be A, E,O.

So how does it work, do you have to pay for any additional fee for online use?

Does it take long to set up a game?

Is It all about guilds?

How long do you think you will be playing this before you get bored?

You win a prize!

NO.

Valve Software is one of the few companies that really live up to the motto "By Gamers For Gamers". L4D is ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY free after you buy it.

Depends. Dedicated servers are a bitch and can take a while to find, but Steam group servers are excellent. Either way, it doesn't take long to set up a game.

Is It all about guilds?

No. It's a four player cooperative game.

Quite a long time, the AI director is AWESOME.

They're "By Gamers for Gamers" as long as your definition of "Gamer" is: "Somebody who plays Xbox 360 or PC" as their support for PS3 has been absolutely terrible. Their port of Orange Box was nigh unplayable, and their lack of new games for the console is disturbing.

As for L4D, the game kicks some ass. It's just fun. Pure, unfiltered fun.

Well Valve makes mostly (okay entirely) FPS games, which are better for PC anyways so I don't really mind them giving consoles the shaft.

So i got it today, not as scary as i would have thought but still fun. If anyone wants to play let me know how to add you to steam (I'm still pretty knew to it)

It's more intense than scary.

I consider buying this, too. Then again, I don't have any fucking time for games lately. What am I thinking?

Unlike RPGs that you have to consistently play to keep up with the story line, this you can pick, enjoy for an hour, then not touch for a few weeks and play again. Its very arcade like in that sense.

Man, this is sad. I joined the Steam NMA group to see if anybody here wants to play Left 4 Dead with me, and Steam says I have no friends in this group :-/

PS3 has a completely different architecture and they'd have to rewrite their games. I don't care either way, long as PCs remain their primary development platform.

I just joined, under VonDrunky.

I'm still new to steam, do you have to add people to friends or can you invite straight from steam groups? Either way feel free to add me, I should be on in a few hours.

I'm concern the lack of custom map by the mod community. Even with the AI director, people will soon fed-up of playing the same campaign.

But damn this game has the magic to reveal your inner-self whether you are a cold-heart bastard who run away or knight in shinning armor defending the weak. :D

I find that I have a much greater tendency to leave people behind if I think they've brought it on themselves. Like people who go off the path alone chasing some lone zombie near a saferoom.
When they inevitably get caught by a hunter I just close the door. Fuck 'em, should've stayed with the group.
I'd never leave someone behind who played well, but people who are too slow or try to go Rambo tend to get what's coming to them.
