Lonesome Road Holotape #3

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
The folks at Bethesda have uploaded the final pre-release Ulysses' holotape for Lonesome Road on their blog, preceded by the customary introduction from Chris Avellone:
The past can be difficult to escape from. If you’ve played Honest Hearts, not only will you have heard hints of Ulysses’ presence, you will have seen the results of what he’s done in the past that helped shape the White Legs, from their armaments to their rituals. The knowledge your Courier can find in the Divide can help put the tragedies of the past in a larger perspective.

History follows strange roads, and it can follow you no matter how far you walk. This is the third of several holotapes your Courier can discover in Lonesome Road, and helps shed more light on New Canaan, the White Legs, and Graham.

The rest of the holotapes? They are for your Courier to find in the Divide. Perhaps the history within them holds the key to the future.
Direct link.

As odd as it is to listen to all this symbolism, I really can't wait to see what the hell Ulysses is all about. He's certainly shaping up to be something rather unique.

Awesome. I love how Avellone puts a new spin on what we previously knew (or thought that we knew) about the world. I believe Ulysses is a realization of Avellone's first VB concept: a character equal in importance and impact on the game world to the player character.

I forgot that I had switched on repeat in WinAmp.. I was really beginning to hope for a "Blah-blah-blah, stfu and die!" option.

I think the challenge of this DLC will be to endure that sleep-inducing monotonous soulless ranting. I got absent minded after three seconds. I have no idea what he said. :falloutonline:

So it was Ulysses the one that helped the White Legs get all the end game gear? It still doesn't explain why the White Legs use english names for their weapons when they on't even speak english.

Didn't it occur to you that "Storm Drum" is a translation of whatever expression the White Legs use to refer to their weapon?

But the other tribals also talk about their storm drums, and use the english name of their Leader.

Well, palestinians call some of their own leaders by their nickname or occident name, instead of their real birth name. Here on Brazil is the same thing, sometimes the native brazilians - also called indians - refer to themselves by their portuguese brazilian name instead of their own native language, tupi-guarani.
I don't see the inconsistency.

On the topic, I'm very curious about the relationship between Ulysses and the Courier, as well the motives.
Very anxious to play the DLC.

These holotape audios never work outside of the game. They're meant to be listened to while walking around ingame.

So Ulysses is behind the White Legs having all that firepower, and was indeed working for the Legion, for a time at least? This guy has so much questions to answer. And if he keeps his manner of speech, I suspect. his conversation. will be a very. long. one indeed.

I rather like a character that is skeptical of all the factions.

People are always so eager to give their allegiance to a cause and zealously defend it. Even to the extreme point of becoming emotionally invested in a corporate brand.
