Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
Man Loses Fingers In Quest For Girlfriend

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) - A Los Angeles man who sneaked into Canada in February to see his Internet girlfriend will be deported -- minus all his fingers and some of his toes, the Winnipeg Sun newspaper reported Tuesday.

Charles Gonsoulin, 41, will have the fingers and toes amputated because of severe frostbite suffered during a 100-hour trek from Pembina, North Dakota, across the border to Emerson, Manitoba, where he was found wandering on a golf course on Feb. 23, suffering from hypothermia.

"It is better to have loved and to have lost than never to have loved at all," the Sun quoted Gonsoulin as saying. "It was all worth it for me. It's the difference between sitting around dreaming about things and going out and getting them."

Gonsoulin and the Canadian woman met in an Internet chat room in 2002. The woman lives in Quebec, Gonsoulin's lawyer, Mike Cook, told a court hearing. Quebec is about 2,500 kilometers (1,600 miles) east of Manitoba.

Gonsoulin could not enter Canada legally because he was convicted of robbing a Pizza Hut in Arkansas in 1984, the newspaper said.

His girlfriend could not afford to travel to Los Angeles, he told the Sun. So he took a bus to North Dakota where he crossed the border.

"Mr. Gonsoulin didn't really know that there was any place on Earth that could be so cold and so inhospitable," Cook told a court hearing Monday, adding his client had never felt temperatures colder than 10 degrees Celsius (50 F).

Temperatures dipped below -26 C (-15 F) during his long hike.

Gonsoulin is receiving medical treatment in a Winnipeg jail. He still has not met his girlfriend face-to-face but they have spoken on the phone and Gonsoulin said they are still in love.

No deportation date has yet been set.

How the hell could it have been worth it? He lost ALL of his fingers and some of his toes, and he didn't even meet her, much less get laid. Even if he did het laid she would have to be so unbelievably hot, for it to be worth it, that I can't even imagine it.

And why is it can't you enter Canada if you commited a crime 20 years ago? Is this normal and does it apply to everybody or just Americans?

Anyway, feel free to discuss.

... I think most grade school students know ND is A BIT COLD! WEAR A COAT OUR YOU'LL GET A COLD! god... He should not forget his "sign" next time either.

Leaving the country might've been a violation of his probation. Who knows.

Whats really fucked up is not only did he not get the girl...now he can masterbate either so plan A and plan B are both compromised!

He robbed a Pizza Hut. We are obviously not dealing with the sharpest tool in the shed here, from the very beginning.

True Kotario. Any pizza restaurant has those circular pizza slicers that are as dull as a pen. Clearly he could have found a better place to rob like a knife shop or hardware store.

I used to work at a Pizza Hut.

Seriously the worst job ever.

Edit - by the way, they don't use the circular pizza cutters at Pizza Hut.

He can still masturbate, he'll just have to buy a pocket pussy or a blow up doll, and use both hands. :D

He must have been desperate to call loosing all of his fingers "worth it." As has been mentioned before, the fact that he robbed a pizza hut proves he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Oh, and even i know it's cold in Canada.

And how far did they say he was away from his actual destination? 1600 Miles? Ever heard of a map? Damn, the least he could have done before he left was have SOME idea of where he was going.

You live and you learn i guess! This guy paid a hefty price for that lesson though.

So cold and inhospitable? Sounds like a Summer vacation to me.

I don't know about your weather patterns, but here its the windchill that gets you. That, and I doubt this guy dressed warm, for some reason. "Canada? People go to vacation there, so it must be warm like Florida!", thought the man.

LOL

You mean like Beijing?

Level 7 winds?

42C in summer to -25 C in winter?

Sand storms?

I kid you not, this place gets sand storms like the desert.

Yep, he committed a felony. That means he's no longer allowed to leave the U.S. Weird, I know, but thems the rules. Works the other way around too though, if someone was convicted of a crime equal to a felony here, they aren't allowed in legally.

Wouldn't that imply you trust the judgement of foreign judges implicitely? That seems unlikely

Yea, and what if a foreigner would be convicted in his home country for a crime that isn't a crime in the USA? Like, for instance, disrespecting the Qu'ran in Iran or something.

Or, what if a foreigner would've done something in his home country that is considered a felony by American law, but isn't forbidden in his home country? Like, for instance, distributing .torrent seeds in Sweden?

Ah! The complexynesness!

Lots of people losing their fingers it seems. There were some 2 people in Korea (I think it was korea, mabey china) I read about this morning that cut their finger off all becaulse of a rally at the embasy.

Trecking all the way to Canada for a girlfriend though... I dunno about this. I woulda gotten a friend to hide me in their car or sompthing, or hell just give the girl some money, it says she couldnt afford to visit... just pay her to come down.

You have to wonder what this guy's iq score is though... I mean for him to lose all fingers... he really didnt do any research on what he would be facing.

Please move this thread to the Order so I can make smart remarks about frostbite and that guy's genitalia.

lol I have some high res pics of that specific stuff I scavenged a while back for a flaming I was doing on a no0b on another website (I won, mainly becaulse of the pics alone)

That realllly looks bad when that stuff happens. Like burnt.. only worse...

That guy is so utterly owned. He won't be able to type to his cybergirl anymore.
