Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!

So, seems it more action packed now and has awesome physics. I wonder if they finaly made the shooting mechanics and mutant animations less broken? Because those two things killed Metro 2033 for me.

What do you mean with "broken" ?

I think the shooting mechanic was decent. Animation for the mutants ? Well no clue if it was "shit" but they definitely did not scared me. Only the intelligent mutants and the "psycho-hallucination" scenes - those I liked quite much. And I loved the part with the hidden bunker. I hope we will get more of such situations in last light.

Never had the chance to play the original Metro 2033. But it sure looked great! Don't know if my ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 can handle it.
But this one will also be released on PS3 it seems which is good thing because I don't have teh moniez for a proper gaming rig these days.

I have Metro 2033 and I'm currently reading the book, but I never got far in the game.
I think I'll finish it sometime soon, it was actually decent.
Last Light looks promising, graphics are nice as always.

What killed the game for me was how much stuff they cutted or simply ignored in the game, what was in the book. I get that the game must be a bit simplified, sure, but it simply felt lifeless and dull, compared to the great book. I didn't find those "ghost" encounters any scary at all, I don't know why everyone raves about them so much.

I had an impression some bullets didn't reach the place I aimed for, especially the shotgun was useless. Also, no cover system or leaning at least - movement in combat is very stiff. Same goes for the mutant animations, most of the time it's like they ran through me. Times when they jump at you were also very annoying, since they looked like a cardboard model thrown at you.

Same here, though I played it at a friends house and it was p good, I liked it better than STALKER to be honest.

The first one was being made for PS3, but then was stopped for some bullshit reason, like people were going to play it on the 360 more

suppose you're talking about the basic shotgun, because the black automatic shotgn is a must have against most melee mutants

I don't think I ever went far enough to have it, so I can't really tell. Shoddy combat scared me off.

Weakling... I will fight alongside you no longer.

Maybe the whole combat scared you off. No clue. But I have the feeling the game improved later on at some point.

At the start you have to deal with the ammunition (because the "quality ammunition is as well your currency which I think is a great idea I hope they keep that for the next game and actually improve on that!). Though later in the game at some point you don't have to care about that anymore which is in my eyes the best part about the game because the levels improve much. In my eyes metro33 had a decent level design but the military installation/complex was the best part (I hate the library though ...)

Well I reached the level where you go under a Nazi (or Commie) train into the frontlines of the battle between the two groups and then I lost interest in the game overall. Seems I just got fed up, saw the ending on youtube anyway.

Pretty awesome live action short: Enter the metro.

I really liked the combat, but what I hated having to deal with was the gas mask whenever you had to venture outside. I hated seeing the gas tanks run out and never felt confident that I'd be able to make it to more oxygen tanks.

What I'm hoping for Last Light is that they optimize the game. I don't want lag on my 680. As for the game itself, I'm pretty sure it's good - it's based off the book, a friend of mine said that 2034 was actually less action-packed and more 'philosophical' than the '33.
