Here I came across an interesting discovery. A while ago, Morris Dees (Civil rights activist) came to our campus and talked about his group's battle against racial prejudice here in U.S. In his speech, he described the lawsuit against Tom Metzger, a KKK (for the people outside of US and don't know what that stands, it is a hate group in U.S who used to hang innocent people for their religion beliefs, national origins, or race, and yes, the U.S law allow them to exist with full protection) member who murdered an African American citizen in Oregon, USA. I believe Black Island Studios modeled Metzger - the slave trader after the real life Metzger. Interesting discovery huh?

Also if you ever come to USA..don't go to the Southern states. Thats where the KKK originated and where illiteracy still has a strong hold on some people as does Christianity and other assorted, half-aborted errors of humanity. Long live the North! Death to the South!

Do not diss the south. I live in Texas, and though I may not like it (living in Texas), the people in the south are mostly ok. But... watch out for 7'th grade history teachers. Grrrr... that man last year was so...

Bullshit. These are broad generalisations. Everyone knows rednecks jokes and I'm sure those kind of people exist, but not everyone in the southern states can't read, not everyone in the southern states are fucking their pigs, not everyone in the southern states is christian and not everyone in the southern states is a racist. You should think more or inform yourself before you make an ignorant statement like that.

Well, he wasn't saying that EVERYONE was an illiterate, bigoted, bible-thumper. Just that the South is where it resides the most in the US.

I was stationed there for a while, and I have seen the depths of how far humanity can sink.

Trust me, in some places, and with some people, it IS bad. EXTREMELY BAD. When a black woman looks at you like you've grown a second head when you hold the door open for her, then something is generally wrong.

Notably in MS, FL, GA, and some other places, the South has the highest concentration of bigots than most other countries COMBINED.

Yeah maybe you're right. It's just that I get ticked off when people make broad generalisations. Btw Rosh, do you know what happened to the FO2 board? The messages disappeared again a few days ago and they haven't turned up as archives.

Takes a while, sometimes.

I think the script does a pseudo-CRON job to archive them, a little at a time to prevent mass-resource usage.

This script was designed for high-volumne use.

Archiving can take up to about a week, with some boards.

There's no telling how many more I can meet by going elsewhere in this oh so joyful town. As far as my being informed, I think living in the South kind of makes me informed dont you think????

Personally, I would love to live in amsterdam or some other place that has less restriction on the kind of intoxicants you are permitted to imbibe.

Well, it is one of the highest populations of bi/gay/les people (I forget the one that was higher). But that isn't THE reason why, but like Maryland, Chicago, N'Awlins, Seattle, and Austin, they have a definite population. Even if you are straight as a board, they are still fun places to be in and party like hell, because nobody really gives a flying fuck about what you look like or much about what you like to do.

Take me, for instance, with white hair, a spiked dog collar, and facial piercings. Most of the noted above places I could walk through and fit right in.

Where I live...not stereotyping, but it's how it is here...it's not so easy. We have snobby Jews (the Temple is fraught with politics and one-upmanship so badly it's frankly pathetic), holier-than-thou Christians that will stop you in the street and berate you if you don't look "normal". I've tossed three of them into the ditch so far when they thought they could lay their hands on me. Also, the whole city is like one giant retirement home, and also the hottest fucking spot in the whole USA. Bleh....

But aside from all that...

San Fran has the best concentration of Japanese and Chinese restaurants in the US. I love the sushi at several of the places by the bay.
