Our old fellow-in-arms Tim Buckley of Ctrl-Alt-Del fame once again shows his love for the series in this surprising episode in his "Quest for Oblivion" series (started here), which follows nicely on a small cameo (of sorts) by our well-known Fallout Boy here.

In other web-comic news, Twelve Motion has been working for some time on his excellent Fallout comic series called "The Water Chip", up to four chapters now, check it out!

We've been over the previous plotline ourselves, it's even in our own picture archive on NMA (which I consider pretty rude, but I'll leave it up unless tim complains)

"Probably more hate mail" is a great line.

I particularly like the fact that Ethan in the end of his Oblivion-quest was actually drawn away by a more powerful force, the start of Fallout 3.

Rocks.

Funny, since this "quest" started, i have been really into these comics, and have basically read the archives from beginning to present day. Tim maybie a sellout console whore, but the stuff does make me laugh. It is nice to see fallout referenced in something so mainstream.

hello there
i'm new here and i'm french so sry for my bad english ;)

just to say the comics on CTRL+ALT+DEL is very amazing i laugh for minutes! there also are lot of fans in france waiting for the fallout3 release (bethesda we want informations!)

but i don't see the interest of writing a comics with exactly the same story than fallout1->website on the story of the waterchip

PS : congratulations for the NMA website

We have to set the record straight on this some time on exactly what that guy is called. I guess Fallout Boy is probably the most accurate, but I often refer to him as the Pip Boy (since his image is right on the device).

Well, my personal opinion on the Waterchip thing is either for satire or just a way to bring a personal Fallout experience to a wide audience (the glory of non linear games). Probably just a show of Fallout fanboyism. Can't blame him.

I'm telling you admins, go global. Then all we would need is some FEV, and the glorious army of NMA could rise...
Funny, it's called No Mutants Allowed, and we'd have a mutant army. Meh, good trade off.

Oh, and good to see a new face. The welcome wagon will be here shortly, I think (laughs).

you say this for me? if yes it's wrong, i think i will stay here to see the severals news and the big content of the website, even if there is a french website quite complete, NMA remains the reference!

and as far as it concern the story of the waterchip i didn't see satire in it, it seems to me it's rather the typical way that a fallout player lambda would take, so i have'nt read it completely because i ever knew what's would be the continuation
i prefer the humor of tim in CTRL+ALT+DEL :D

His name is Fallout Boy.

PipBoy is the thing you wear around your wrist and the name of the mascot of the corporation that made the wrist-watchesque devices.

Fallout Boy is the symbol of Fallout, the guy you see in Fallout 2's introduction movie.

Also, note PIPBoy has red hair and wears cowboy clothes, unlike Fallout Boy, who is blonde and (typically) wears a Vault jumpsuit.

Anyway, wouldn't Vault Boy be a more appropriate name for him? I mean, he only appears in Vault-Tec materials, such as educational films and stat descriptions.

You can call the Water Chip Comic a sort of stylized walkthrough I suppose. I really just wanted to add more personality to the game rather than just the simple branched text. Think of it as a novel based on fictional actual events :D

The water chip started as my simple experiment in the world of comic making, but I am really enjoying playing the game this way. Even though it follows the plotline of the game, all the dialague is original, that has to earn me some points right?

Glad we cleared that up.

Why is it when I hear that, I think of the PIPBoy and Fallout Boy fighting each other to Star Trek fight music? I need help.

I know, but the devs always called him Fallout Boy.

I think.

Ask Rosh.

Or one might ask good ol' wishy-washy alec. 8)

The little fella is called FALLOUT BOY. Not Pip Boy, not Vault Boy, not I-am-wearing-a-blue-jumpsuit-and-it-makes-me-look-like-a-fag Boy, but FALLOUT BOY. That's F, A, L, L, O, U, T, B, O, Y.

Okay?

Got that?

Right.

Move along then.
